I wasn't at SDCC, since I was at a different con in California the previous weekend, and I didn't feel like driving 21 hours to get there again. I didn, however, get one off eBay, and it arrived today! Packaging: Skywarp comes in a little plastic baggie. Inside the bag is instructions for his transformation, a Speed planet map (I wish it had come with an Earth one), a second bag with the exclusive Force Chip, and of course the figure itself. As I pulled out Skywarp, two very strong thoughts ran through my head simultaneously: 1. Holy frick! This guy is so cool! 2. Holy frick! This guy is so cute! Yup, miniature is the deal with this guy. With a 3" head height and 3.625" overall height, this guy is tiny. As a result of his small size, there are, of course, changes that need to be made from the larger size figures. No Force Chip gimmicks, and no elbow movement, though all other joints are basically the same or better. The most notable changes to the transformation are his tail does not fold, and instead now rotates out of the way, (or you can leave it up for a more WWI look) and the hips need to be rotated 180˚ to transform the legs. His joints are nice and tight, and can easily support his diminutive weight. In terms of colors, Skywarp is predominantly black, purple, and silver, remaining truer to his G1 scheme than Starscream is to his. He also has a gold painted cockpit, and red shoulder missiles, making it look extremely cool overall. Skywarp comes with the same weapons as the LOC Starscream, a blade on his right arm, and a gun on his left. He can do some pretty cool arm poses, since his shoulder is a ball-joint, and actually has a better range of movement than either GF Starscream or Supreme Starscream. So far my biggest beef with him has been that his head is nestled in between his shoulder missiles, and the space is so small, I can't hardly get my fingers in to move it. The other thing that he comes with is a black Autobot Force Chip. It's pretty cool looking, molded in black plastic with only the Autobot symbol painted. I'll probably give it to the Cybertron VP I'm going to paint up in black with red. Overall, I feel it was $17 well spent. Click the image for more pics!!
I'm glad I waited from the prices of him to drop a bit on eBay. $12 was a fair price in my book. Great toy, didn't think I'd mess w/ these Legends of Cybertron toys but SW changed my opinion on these. Parts come off easy, but I'd rather them pop off than snap in half. I'd recommend picking one up if the price is right as who knows if Hasbro will mass market him.
Cool catch. There's still plenty of them available on eBay for those who want him. Act now before prices go up. I got min BIN from coolcollectiblestuff, for a total of $14. Unfortunately, I don't actually have him in hand (I think he went in the mail Thurs of Fri), but I did get LOC/AS Starscream yesterday. He's by far the best of the 4 LOC toys, and having in my favorite seeker colors can only make him better.
I'm thinking it'd be cool to disassemble him and manufacture my own in any colors I want. Unfortunatly, I can't make a metal mold, and I think the ball sockets in nthe seeker would break a resin mold. EDIT: That and his knees are glued on.
Just had a quick look see on ebay for this guy and couldn't stop laughing when I saw this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=753&item=5989498691&rd=1&ssPageName=WD2V (Hint: check out the price)
But its for 5 of them, which makes it a little over $20 each, which is actually not the highest I've seen for these. Highest I've seen is $25 for 1 before shipping. I have this guy and its awesome. I have all the wave 1 LOC and this and Starscream (same mold) is the best. Megatron 2nd followed by Hot Shot. Prime is the worse. I hope the rumor that they'll have a Thundercracker version for botcon is true. And I actually wished the regular sized TC was a repaint of Starscream instead of the different mold. Not because I want all seekers to be the same mold but because the Starscream mold is so much better than the TC mold.
I like the contrast in this series between Starscream and Thundercracker. Yeah, Starscream got the better mold, but it's space-themed which suits him, likewise with Thundercracker's Earth theme. But apparently we're getting all three as LoC figures, which suits me just fine... I still want the $20 Starscream as Skywarp, though...
This certainly is a nice little toy to fiddle with. It looks like the price on this guy is finally coming down on Ebay. If you can pick this up for less than $10, go for it!
I got mine in for around $20 after shipping. Man, I wish the other LOC figures had paint apps this good. This guy rocks! I might even like him a bit more than the Mega-size GF Starscream. I can't recommend Skywarp enough so run out and get one while they're still here. On a side note, this little guy has given me faith in the LOC molds, so I went and ordered a bunch of the other guys in hopes that some custom paint apps can make them look good.
I got mine for 13 dollars after shipping. He is truly the best small TF I've ever owned. He has all the detail and nearly all the articulation as the normal sized one (I have the voyager one). On another cool note, I noticed that it would be quite easy to interchange his swod and gun and give him either two swords or two guns.
i ended up getting 2 of em plus the alias promo cards for a grand total of 6.76 shipped. i love early am auctions it is a cool little toy glad i didnt get one when they were expensive
