I was doing some thinking, what if Bay helped produced a live action TV series about the transformers like the Terminator series did with the Sara Conner Chronicles? Wouldn't it be cool?

Plus: Would it be based on the movie franchise or a completely made up series with Bumblebee being a VW New Beetle or the Scion IQ concept?

    Thoughts?

a live action Transformers series based on the movie would be too expensive to make.

What could work if they do a new Transformers animated series based on the movies, since Transformers: Animated seems to be coming to an end on its 3rd season.

Yeah...i kinda thought so, but maybe they didn't always have to use so much special effects, like make giant robotic puppets most of the time and make cg sequences when it was needed.

How about making the main focus on the human characters, keeping the Transformers in alt mode and once every episode 2 of them would transform and fight a 20 second fight sequence. That's the only way I forsee them making a live action series in the near future. Else they could use smaller puppets and blue screen a background. But likely, it'll look as cheesy as those older adventure shows, a la Sinbad.

a cartoon version would work though, It would obviously have to be from the Transformers perspective rather then the humans.

I really loved how animated turned out even though I was quite a fan of CGI effects, think it should stay the animated way

I believe to make an affordable live action transformers series, there's going to be some considerable cut backs.
    1) all the cars must be Honda Civics, with cardboard cut outs of the movie cars placed over them to disguise the truth.
    2) all the cars will have someone inside with a megaphone which will then use to speak as the transformer as voice overs for cars is to expensive.
    3) As Transmetal2dinobot has stated, the transformers cgi robots will be replaced with sock puppets, currently the only realistic option after Cgi.
    4) all explosion will be hand drawn in.
    5) their will also be random explosions and lots of smoke similar to power rangers when the transformers go from car to robot and vice versa, to continue hiding the truth.

i believe this will help making a live action more possible :)

Would be hilarious if Takara actually did a live-action TF series. Would probably be a group of guys slapping on belts or gear which form armor and such on them, and then they would summon huge transforming mecha/vehicles....

Have you ever seen that freaky japanese Spider-Man show? Because you pretty much described it spot-on. It's scary! :lol

A live action jsut wouldnt work but if they did a new animated cartoon, regular animation not energon style then i would totally watch it, would be a great way to show teh background of the transformers on cybertron before they ever came into it and then their further unviewed in movie form adventures

Well, that's actually how most of the Japanese tokusatsu series are. Guys using belts/watches/swords and stuff to "power up". Though the Spider-Man one was freaky, coz it actually included the zipping up bit. And the fact that his mecha was based on a leopard instead of a spider made no sense either.

Given all the changes that would have to be made to make it work I'd have to wonder what the point was because it couldn't be anything like the movie.

The GGI would cost a ton so there would be very little robot time. Either that or you'd have to redesign the bots to fit the CGI budget which means a whole new look for Transformers.

You'd need something more for a story.

It would like be a different cast of human actors.

Just don't see a live action series happening given the gamble they would have to make on the budget.

Yea i agree, a new animated version based upon the movie series would be awesome. A live action with CGI would just be too expensive. But since the current animated series is going to come to an end i def think they should continue with a new series based off the movies.

A TF live action series (whether based on the movies or otherwise) would probably be too expensive right now. In another ten years or so the CGI might be affordable enough that they could do a live action series with a more G1-style design aesthetic because it's simpler and there would be less to render (in other words, cheaper). Right now, though, I'd say it's probably out of the question.

I second this. In fact, I'd say this probably going to be Hasbro/Cartoon Network's next move once Animated wraps (if, indeed, it is coming to an end).

Never happen as a live action show. Like others have said, way too expensive.

    Animated could work.

    Or the aforementioned sock puppets.

I agree, maybe by the time the third movie is done it might be possible. I think it could be cool to have an adult oriented Transformers show along side a 'toon for the kids
