I'm currently writing a reboot script... looking for ideas and input. This is roughly how it goes: A terrorist regime takes over South America. Whenever strike forces arrive to attempt to liberate the continent, they are wiped out, with no trace. The only to return from such an is military strategist Matt Trekker, who has been dishonorably discharged. His last mission... he described things that couldn't possibly be real, leading to him being deemed shellshocked and discharged. Life as a civilian is hard for him, as he languishes as a powerplant worker, along with his friend, Sam Witwicky, in New Mexico. Suddenly, cities in Mexico begin to go black. When their town in New Mexico is attacked, Trekker sees his nightmare again... vehicles that Transform into machines. As the machines and their human allies attack their powerplant, Trekker and Witwicky are saved by a car that pulls up, has no driver, and tells them to get in. Having little choice, they do so. The car informs him that his name is Bumblebee, and that Trekker's info could be vital to his soon to arrive cohorts, the Autobots, in launching a counter offensive. Upon arriving at the "drop zone", Bumblebee drives into a mountain, which is actually a ship disguised in a hologram. He is introduced to the other Autobots, Jazz, Ironhide (with whom he forms an immediate liking), Ratchet, Wheeljack, and their leader, Optimus Prime. Trekker shares his info... the other robots are part of an organization led by Miles Mayhem called VENOM. They appear to have vehicles that transform into combat mode as well. The Autobots launch a counter offensive, battle over several set pieces, and defeat VENOM and the Decepticons. With Autobot assistance, Trekker forms MASK, and is supported by the highest levels of government in repelling this assault on earth. They are sworn to secrecy, as knowledge of this secret war would cause hysteria. Optimus Prime assures the president that they will remain robots in disguise. That's roughly the first movie. It allows Hasbro to put two toy lines together that compliment each other, allows the movie maker to have a more sensical reason to include human armies, and it allows the human element to remain integral as well... Cybertronian tech could be the MASKS and the transforming human vehicles. It'd allow the human element to feel like it has more purpose, and it's more realistic then "lets just let these guys tag along." Ideas, comments, suggestions?
100% pure fanwank. Well, you invoked a couple recognizable names and ideas that only a small fringe group of people would know. To make a movie for fans will only alienate the mass audiences and the movie would be a mega-flop. I'm kidding. Sounds like an idea. But you need Unicron
3 paragraphs before a Transformer is mentioned? TOO MANY HUMANS!!!! (might as well get that out of the way )
Prowl will be in the series, but wouldn't appear till the sequel. The Autobots will be more ragtag in the first one. Prowl would arrive in the sequel, once Prime realizes they're going to be dug in for awhile here. Id try to introduce 5 - 7 bots per side per sequel.
