ONE PUNCH MAN Live-Action Adaptation From VENOM Writers In The Works At Sony Pictures A live-action adaptation of ONE's satirical anime series One Punch Man is in development at Sony Pictures, with Venom and Jumanji: The Next Level writers Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner on board to pen the script. Avi and Ari Arad will produce. Live-action Saitama comes to the big screen! Top-tier action and outrageous humor!
Uh, something this specific in its satirising is probably not going to work out. Like come on guys I get you want live action anime for some reason but for fuck sake. Maybe try something a little less high concept like Gunsmith Cats. Two babes who work part-time as bounty hunters and gun store owners/armourers driving around Chicago in a Shelby 67 Mustang GT500. You’d need to be fucking braindead to fail at selling that.
It and My Hero Academia are inspired by American comics, and that may make them a lot easier to be accepted or adapted. But they can't just rush into this with the idea that this will be a rival to Star Wars or the MCU. That thinking is far too ambitious. Just let it be what it is, an action comedy.
Or Black Lagoon, something along those lines. The french City Hunter movie is pretty close the source material even using some of the anime's music in the movie.
Deadline Site: Former Fast & Furious Director Justin Lin to Helm Live-Action One-Punch Man Film Sony Pictures is setting up Justin Lin to direct a live-action film adaptation of ONE and Yūsuke Murata's One-Punch Man manga. Lin would also serve as a producer and collaborate on the screenplay's rewrite before starting production by the end of this year.
Clearly you don’t realize how powerful Saitaima is. He’s precrisis Superman Level power. Most recent issue has him fighting Garo across the Galaxy. Currently they are on one of Jupiter’s moons. Their fight was so Dangerous Blast and heroes in another dimension (Who are apparently fighting god) had to deflect the energy away from earth. As for tricks like squirrel girls Garo tried similar tactics. Saitaima saw them coming. Saitaima is so powerful he could destroy the planet if he isn’t careful controlling his power level. Both She Hulk and Squirrel Girl need air to breathe.
Honestly, thinking about it, if done right, a Black Lagoon adaptation would work, considering it was already inspired by American action movies, specifically Tarantino films. Tarantino's still alive, isn't he?
Ironic thing i deleted my post in less than a min as i didn't want this to turn into a "who can beat who" thread. Of well. It does not matter what he can do. Squirrell girls' powers more or less is she can beat anyone no matter how powerful in seconds without them even getting a punch in. And again she-hulk in her own book can mess with the comic they are in. They are like the popeye death battle. They don't obey rules of reality. Both have stepped out of the story to talk to the person reading the comic. They don't need air because they can change reality around them. They can break reality. They break the 4th wall. Even deadpool in his own title who can also break reality lost to sg in seconds and he lost to her at least three times now! It's like fighting bugs bunny. He won't win. They can break his reality.
... Yeah that was why I never liked the Squirrel Girl book it was the elementary playground level excuse or argument of my character can beat yours nah nah. But when ever they asked how it was they did it, it was just can because they are better, never showed it, just claimed it, it was bad writing and was done mostly for comedy. "I shot you", No you didn't my character has super impenetrable armor, "Since When?" Since now!! It was stupid. Which was why I never considered it or her powers cannon as they differ greatly from her appearances before that book. It's also why she didn't appear in most other books. The She-hulk 4th wall powers more or less left after the Byrne comic was cancelled and she's just been superhero lawyer in most of her comics ever since. It was played as a joke and as you said since it doesn't work outside of her own book, it doesn't count. Gwen Pool did the same thing BTW It works fine as a joke, but not as could this character beat another claim. Because anything can happen as long as the writer wants it too, and then a writer in another book will just say it never happened and ignore it because it doesn't work when there is continuity and actual consequences. Unlike Squirrel Girl one punch man actually shows him beating his opponents and explains why. It's also a comedic book, but it's funnier, far better drawn, and doesn't need to make up excuses for why he won.We see it happen. .
True but like it or not sq is canon and part of the marvel universe so if you say "who can beat him in the mu she is part of it and her "beat anyone" does not just stay in her comics as she did it in books like avengers and fantastic four. (like beating wolverine in seconds in avengers much to the shock of the avengers) She-hulk did it in damage control and other more goofy books but in a avengers or ff book she was pretty normal and got beat many times. Deadpool even asked she-hulk about why that is "you were me before me". In damage control she-hulk loses only to have her confirm right after everyone left, she lost to move the story along but still complained about the plot afterwords mad the writers wanted her to lose to make the books hero look better! Lol. Pretty much he would fare about as well as he did with the popeye death battle.
