I need to refresh my memory. Is Buzzworthy ROTB Optimus Prime a SS38 remold, mainline repaint, or something new entirely?

I don’t think we know for sure, definitely not a mainline repaint as it’s studio series. Hopefully a new mold given how different the proportions are to bee movie prime.

Well, I hope it is a new Studio Series release. If it is SS38 remold, I might not want it. I don’t even know if SS38 is way too big to be in scale with SS ROTB figures.

He scales well, keep in mind 38 was made to scale with the other bee movie figures which were always a bit on the small size. He’s about a head taller than ROTB battletrap.

We don’t know, he’s either going to be a new mold or retool of 38z

I figure it'll just be a retool of SS38. For whatever reason (Seriously, what is up with that?) SS38 has incredibly weird proportions for the design he's actually trying to replicate, but suits ROTB Prime fine. Which is weird, because I doubt it was any sort of pre-tool, they'd be pre-tooling SS38 on the control art of ROTB Prime, which had the same proportions if not even longer than Bumblebee Prime...

The reason is because they used the BBM Prime concept art (that SS38 is based on) for ROTB Prime.

Yea, that really is disappointing!! Had they retooled it into an actual Mercedes, it wld’ve been an instant buy. So that’s gonna be a pass!

God, this mold looks so nice in Nemesis colours, but I just don't think it's worth the asking price. Especially when I've been eyeing up Magic Square's MP Nemesis on ShowZ, which looks much nicer for a good chunk of change less

Oooh, that looks fantastic! I've been tempted by Haiku and managed to resist despite how incredible it looks, but the black and red deco might tip me over the edge. I don't honestly mind the incorrect vehicle mode. The Bugatti and the Mercedes are fairly differently shaped cars so they probably would've had to do some serious retooling or just start from scratch to make it accurate

What I'd really love to see them do is release a black and orange version like what we got in some of the early concept art for Age of Extinction

    :lol

    Movieverse retrospective incoming!
Having focused my attentions on Lego Star Wars & Pokemon for the next 5 years after Transformers Cybertron, I don't remember much of Transformers the 2007 movie, or Revenge of the Fallen around their release dates. I did watch them a few times on DVD & TV airings not long after they came out & was starting to browse toy shelves some time before witnessing the awe of Revenge of the Fallen having entire aisle sections to itself (I even found myself reading some of the package bios). It was only after I got back into getting Transformers figures around the end of 2010 that I really developed an interest in the Movie Universe, it's fascinating fictions & it's amazing toys. There were even a few RotF Walmart exclusives still on shelves & Skywarp, Beachcomber & Deadlift became some of my first figures in this new age of collecting that's never stopped so far.

Transformers (2007) is imo still the best live action movie, succeeding in everything that the sequels continued to do worse & worse, & I've only enjoyed it more with each watching. I still think most of the live-action movies' crude PG-13 humor has no place in this brand, but this film has the least of it while benefiting from mostly enjoyable characters, human & machine, & engaging plots that brilliantly build up to the groundbreaking robot action!

Revenge of the fallen was very much the first of the worst as it started the downward spiralling trend of over-the-top convoluted conspiracy plots, more & more rotten crude humor, less & less compelling characters of both species, & far-too long runtimes surrounding the same amount of robot scenes. The only reason I tolerate their existence is that imo they're just as good as other TFs series at presenting facinating concepts in the Transformers characters & mythos alongside crazy cool action. Those concepts' potential may be utterly wasted in the movies themselves, but not in the comics, toylines, or, most importantly, our imaginations. The best scenes in any of the (so far) 6 live-action movies, as viewed in 3-8 minute clips on YouTube, are nearly unparaleled in Transformers media as epic springboards of excitement! Anyway, RotF was awesome for introducing the Movieverse's first origin story, the awesome yet funny Jetfire, & probably the best Transformers concept ever put to screen, N.E.S.T.; Earth's military & the Autobots working together, in a Micheal Bay movie no less!!!! (probably the closest we'll ever get to on-screen Transformers/G.I.Joe crossover)

As for the plastic, it's obviously the best thing to come out of the live-action movie franchise. Many figures famous among the fandom for their awesome & fun designs, both on-screen & off-screen-based, can be found in every live-action movie toyline. I'm happy to say that, having recently hunted & acquired some of the first 2 movie line's most legendary figures, they are worth the hype & I look forward to getting more!
