To be fair, without doing a lot of searching through forums like here, it’s not the easiest thing to search up what that waspinator figure is from.

I mean a majority of people and reviewers had no clue that 3p Bumblebee Megatron was actually a fan designers model made into a toy.

Eh from what I’ve seen of PVP recently it’s a lot less of that “best thing since sliced bread” style. I remember being annoyed by that too. He’s definitely gotten better as a reviewer tho. As to the catchy or trendy stuff… I mean he’s young so that’s kinda what he’s gonna do. We might just be getting old.  

 

I mean, it isn’t hard to find info on that toy though. It’s not 1990, Google is everybody’s best friend lol.

I feel like that’s more of an excusable bot to mistake for an actual movie verse bot, seeing how IT WAS design to be a movie bot.

But maybe ur right, and it’s just an age thing, but it’s still annoying lol. I was always my own man, and never did things just to “go with the flow” or stand out. I always did my own thing, and fuck whoever didn’t like it. So maybe I’m just different.

In terms of finding out what that specific waspinator is based on, it actually is pretty difficult to find.

I mean, the aesthetic is quite definitively that of the movieverse, so I think the title is fair and likely not meant to be taken 100% literally.

 

obviously its unlikely cause it didnt happen on screen but would any one else be stoked for SS blitzwing to get recolored so we have the seeker trio with earth modes

 

Wow, I just got Crosshairs today after waiting a week and a half for him to arrive from HasbroPulse, great figure, amazing in fact, but then I remembered that TLK was almost 6 years ago… wow, I remember watching it in theaters especially after waiting for it after watching AOE, throughout the years my opinions on TLK varied a lot, and all I can say is wow, the years have been going by quick. Oh and AOE turns 10 next year, and DOTM turns 13, etc, I remember watching all of these movies in theaters, and dang time really went by quickly.
Great figure tho 9/10 bot mode and 10/10 vehicle mode!

 

It’s easy to find the company though, and based on that, one could determine that it’s def not movie verse.

I guess that in this day and age, what people describe something as when trying to reach an audience, just isn’t meant to be taken in the literal sense, and words have no meaning.

As far as the aesthetics, that’s subjective. IMO, there isn’t enough detail to try to match this to a movie verse bot, not even the BBM. But again, that’s just my opinion.

Honestly, in the age of click-bait and the war with Youtube's awful algorithm, as long as something isn't a straight-up lie, I give it a pass. But I guess if you don't think it even fits the aesthetic, it could be counted as a lie. I just... Really struggle to see how this doesn't look like a movie figure. I truly don't see how there could be any more detail added to it. I mean, arguing aesthetics is pointless, but.. Are we looking at the same figure?

 

Sigh… I’ll say this, and this will really be it for me..
Waspinator
All the panels are nothing but colored panels without any details. And even the molded details on the limbs are just plain. That’s no actually gears, and it has some lazy wires molded into the plastic. That and shapes.

Now compare that to the movieverse aerial bots



look at the amount of details in the panels alone, let alone in the actual mechanical molded details in the robot bits. Even in the BBM Blitzwing.

They’re simply not the same level.

 

Oh yeah, I get it now, it's certainly not on the same level, but to me, it definitely comes across as an attempt at the movieverse style. After all, no other version of TF has the same mechanical skeleton, covered in broken up vehicle parts look that Not-Waspinator has, except, I guess, that period of time when IDW was also trying to imitate the Bay style for its G1 designs, at the beginning of Costa's Transformers Ongoing.

 

It literally transforms into a real life make of helicopter & has all the complex design traits of a movie design. Surely “movie verse” is more fitting than saying Legacy or WFC verse?

 

Personally I've always just seen AmazingSpino's designs (and this new Waspinator figure by extension) as their own thing, quite possibly inspired by the Bay-verse aesthetic but definitely not trying to imitate it entirely. Just cool designs in their own right.

But why does it need to fit into any of those?

If you want to consider it a movie-verse figure for the purposes of your own collection that's totally cool, but I don't think 3P products need to be defined by what Hasbro is churning out at the same time. In the same way that Iron Factory's legends figures aren't meant to match up with Hasbro's core class, or MMC's Reformatted line isn't meant to scale with Generations or Masterpiece. You can put them alongside those official figures if you want to, but they're meant to stand as their own thing.

 

I completely agree, but to the majority of viewers who don’t come to the forums or aren’t in the know of 3P figures the use of “movie verse” in the title would be more appealing to them & in my opinion I do believe it’s a movie verse take on the character. I even mention in the opening of the video that the design is original & unique, produced by an independent artist.
