A small hand saw I have lying around, then used a file to sand it down a bit so it wasn't sharp

 

These two arrived today. Hot Rod imo is....

...okay

His joints are fantastic which is the only reason I am keeping him. He both poses and holds like a champ. However I legitimately don't like the transformation. None of the tabs plug in (ESPECIALLY the rear), parts of the hood and rear constantly fall off without me putting any stressed and the hinge on my right door wing is stressed. Also the clear joint that's there to spin the top of the car reminds me of Barricade's clear balljoint and how tight it was. Sorry but as a transformer, he is just not for me.

But this doesn't mean I think he is bad. Not at all. I think the robot mode is excellent and just like Barricade I simply wont transform him. So I painted him up! I think he turned out really really nice. I don't have an orange marker so till then he will stay like this. But I am fine with that. As for the silver face, I know it's not completely accurate but I much prefer it and it allows me to actually see his mouth

 

I'm waiting on Hot Rod myself but today was the estimated delivery date and instead Amazon had me approve a delay. Losing hope they'll ever fulfill the order.

 

Just ordered one of these off of ebay after years of wanting one.

I really wish the ROTB design was more like this. It’s the perfect blend of Movie and G1 Wheeljack.

 

MetaGate Haiku… still one of the most impressive movieverse figures I’ve ever handled. Can’t wait for their Shatter!

I’ve been half tempted to track down one and swap his head out for the BB movie deluxe….

 

I got him for $130 total, an acceptable price considering his age and rarity. However, if your just looking to get one for parts, I can’t reccomend it.

1. Because it pains me to see such a rare figure butchered that way, and-
2. The Movie Advanced Wheeljack figure is much harder to find these days. A few months ago, there were zero on ebay. I know because the first thing I did when we saw the ROTB design was go to ebay and look for the MA figure instead, and there were none.


As of last night, there was a loose one for $95, but $95 is stupid amount to spend for just a head. If your going to pay that much for him, enjoy him as he is.

I have the original DOTM deluxe, and it’s a good, if monsterous tall, figure.

 

The visor I'm not really a fan of but it does look nice, I use to not care for the toy but seeing this photo I do like it a bit more.

 

I wish the visor was painted gold like the box art.

 

He's bit shorter

 

I was more thinking keep the body and just swap out the head because the visor doesn’t really do it for me but everything else from the colours to the paint nails it.


As you say given the rarity and value of the figure it’s best kept as is and great that it’s still finding so much popularity all these years later! Look forward to seeing the pics once yours arrives

This kinda hurts, seeing how I spent $82 on this head…
And I bought 2 of them  

He’s def a good replacement, IMO. It’s just the partsforming that I’m not a big fan of.

 

That's some good head for the price.
