Now don't get me wrong, I think Battletrap looks good but like yikes. The engineering definitely seems to be there but I have a lot of problems with him. The tiny alt mode feels like a joke but I guess the scale excuse saves that one but everything else? Lot's of ugly panel lines, laughable kibble that screams "We run out of budget" and he just looks... kinda unfinished? Not even in the context of comparing him to hiss CG model, he just looks very half-baked. Seems like another Galvatron situation but despite his flaws that figure was kinda praised for its articulation and engineering. Perhaps I could be wrong which I do want to be actually! I wanna see this figure surprise me and I don't think it has a bad shot at it. Still looking forward to him.

I haven't really invested to as much money to "modern" SS as I am trying to catch up with as much old stuff as I can get my hands on but while my SS collection I would still consider small, I think I have a pretty good idea of the line. So far Blitzwing might be my favouite figure in the line. He is not perfect, no but you can tell the designers had fun making the figure as playable, posable and accurate as possible. The transformation is also vey fun and super impressive with how it uses its parts without being complicated that results in a legitimately cool looking, chunky jet from a very slender robot. While torso problem is still very prominent I don't think it hampers the expirience as much considering everything else you get.

What are y'all's opinions on this? Actually curious what everyone else thinks. Perhaps similar or different I am interested in seeing the perception of others in this subject.

 

Battletrap bringing to mind both 07's Longarm and Legacy's Scraphook keeps making me think he's just a Deluxe. Kinda sucks remembering he's a Voyager that costs more and somehow has both his hands and those shoulder connection pegs sticking out in truck mode.

My quick answer to this is:

As much as I hate the direction Hastak has taken this toy line… smaller toys, with a little kibble, backpacks, and cheap plastic…

I think this one’s the fault of this whole G1 thing they have going. With the squared, and blocky designs, as well as the bigger vehicle panels, and metallic panels, that cover the robot mode.

The bigger panels take away the awesome mechanical detailing that the Bayverse figures captured so perfectly!!

I'll be honest here, I disagree with that. I think the actual design is pretty good and what you described is kind of most transformer designs in most continuities. I don't think you get my point and my problems with Battletrap.
