I think we'll get a voyager Shockwave. Maybe they were test the waters with a core sized one first?

Disassembling Skipjack for a red repaint and I decided I needed to do an obligatory "Bumblebee horribly murders another decepticon with dismemberment" shot.

Word of caution to anyone who has/wants this guy. BMB plastic is soft and the ankle area is loose. The ankle tilt is thin, and the ankle rocker is supported by a teeny screw. Also check out how they hollowed it out, making both halves weak. My break happened from over torquing the screw. The amount of torsion and tightness of the ankle eventually stressed the peg at the base. Once that peg cracks/breaks at the base, its over. I fixed the problem and got rid of the looseness. What freaks me out is the joint where the ankle tilts, it is sooo thin. They probably just wanted a wave-mate for Ravage. Or they might be testing the waters for more core class versions of the other characters too.

So I just got the super shoddy bmb OS offroad Bumblebee, and he is kinda cool (he definitely has some big brother energy), but he's not really a good Bee toy for me.

He does, however, make for a pretty good MPM G1 Swindle...

That sucks ass. I've been so close to buying this figure several times but it's basically guaranteed to break.

There was a movie Hound in the PSP game who turned into a Jeep, so you might be onto something!

Premium finish Bumblebee is NICE! Primevsprime says the orange-yellow is better, but I'd say I prefer the "older" looking yellow on the premium finish. Also the extra little paints here and there actually makes me more pleased than I thought it would IMG20211128011203.jpg

Glad you're satisfied! Do you mind posting a pic of how you arranged the back kibble? Just curious since I haven't transformed or handled mine in like 2 years haha

I folded the door as far back (it's also possible to fold the little window wings in so that they don't stick out/down, but I find it a little risky and unnecessary) I also find the backpack to fold upwards (past that sketchy part) a LITTLE easier? Maybe I just got lucky, who knows

To add to the list of reasons that figure isn’t great to buy, they haven’t fixed anything but have raised the price to $150….

Since it's been a little while, I wanted to catch you all up on what the plan is going forwards with my customs!

With Recon Barricade complete, I've finished all of the figures I have with me here, with the exception of Grindor (more on him later). Here's a group shot of all my finished projects!
    Customs.jpg
Like I've mentioned before, I'll be swapping some figures when I go home for Christmas break. My duplicate Arcee triplets will be one of them (for the Decepticon Bikes project, which will be up first), and Overload is the other guaranteed one coming back with me. Any other figures I get around that time (likely another SS-74 for a Stealth Bumblebee repaint) will also be coming back. This means I won't be able to get started on those projects until after I get back from break, but I should have a steady stream of things to work on for a while once we're there. Really excited to get to work on those!

Now, Grindor. While I do have a plan for paint (which I've done some work with), I'd like to try and do some kitbashing/3D printing to get alt mode closer to the CH-53 we see in ROTF. I don't have any experience in 3D design so this is a long-term project, but I have 3 parts I'd like to add:

    1. A new piece on the front, replacing the protruding nose of the original.
    2. An additional engine piece for alt mode that will end up on the arm kibble in bot mode - Grindor is roughly 1/72 in alt mode IIRC, so if I can find a model kit I could kitbash it on.
    3. An adapter piece for the tail rotor that will angle it at 20 degrees when attached.

I've also done a little bit more work on Evasion Prime, I've added some paint to make alt mode look more like the Marmon in the movie (unifying the front windows and squaring off the side ones), but with Prime's deco from the first 3 movies. Far from done, but something fun to work on from time to time. I tried a few new things recently so it's real messy right now.

Now with the spring mechanism, it is possible to create more realistic positions for the robot, inherent "in armament of the cannon"!
