I figured "Why not" and pulled my Hasbro Galvatron off my shelf to compare it to the one in your photos, and wow. The paint applications are definitely lackluster for a Takara Tomy release.

AOE Galvatron is a terrible figure by todays standards, but it wasn't that bad back in 2014. It's pretty much known that Hasbro is only able to do so much when it comes to new characters because they only have access to concept art, and the lack of vehicle kibble in robot mode didn't help either, I'm sure. I want a Studio Series Glavatron to happen only because I'm interested to see what HasTak can do now that they have the CGI models in hand, and don't have to rush the toy out before a movie release. Stinger, Sentinel Prime, and even Lockdown show that Hasbro can take kibble-less Transformers and give them decent figures. I just hope they'll use plenty of silver instead of using drab gray plastic.

I never had too much of a problem with AoE Galvatron or his backpack(I was desperate for a new Decepticon in the line) but even with his impossible design, they could have done better and I hope they do better in Studio Series.

By no means is it 100% perfect or accurate, but I always liked how the Power Battlers toy implemented the truck kibble into the transformation on top of integrating a wicked gimmick. I wouldn't complain if the Studio Series version took some cues from this toy.

Crosshairs and Drift would have gotten caught a long time ago they have no license plates!!! Cops would have stopped them left and right!

I know that Crosshairs' license plate is black. I think that Drift's is color matched too. The license plates are interesting. Some have "real" plates, others have custom versions of real plates, others have color matched plates with no jurisdiction/location on them, and others don't have one at all.

What if they made an SS Galvatron toy that literally flipped inside out? Could that work?

This would really be the only way to outdo the AOE Voyager. It's not like a new SS Voyager would be any larger than that figure, and the original did have the backpack fold up pretty cleanly. I would be interested to see if they could pull it off.

Whether or not you need most DNA kits to upgrade their respective figures is entirely subjective. They definitely add extra play value to most figures, but they're objectively not necessary. You can still enjoy those toys a great deal without the upgrade kits

This is the one exception, however

Jesus, I've only had this kit on MPM6 for a few hours (three, max), but it's insane how much more enjoyable he is when you can move the arms without the entire upper torso coming undone

I'm still baffled as to why Hasbro designed the figure that way in the first place. This is a set that shouldn't need to exist, but boy am I glad that it does. Even just standing straight, he looks so much more like the on-screen design

    IMG_20210705_223630.jpg

    IMG_20210705_223329.jpg

Does anyone know if you really need to remove those clips from the arm panels for transformation? I know the instructions tell you to, but if not I think I might just glue them on there for a little extra stability

Hells yeah. How can you not like it? Especially with this sweet ass truck mode

    IMG_20210705_224409.jpg

It's honestly kind of funny, I remember really not liking how Galvatron looked when we first saw him in the Superbowl trailer, and then eventually when the voyager figure was revealed, but after seeing him in the film itself, it quickly became one of my favourite movie designs

    I could see that working

Perhaps something similar to Evasion Mode Optimus, or maybe even Bumblebee Optimus, but with the torso reversed? So instead of the truck grill folding up to reveal the back detail, it'd make up Galvatron's chest? You'd end up with the truck windows on the back but there's no realistic way of escaping obvious vehicle mode kibble on that design at that scale

Don't blame ya. Aesethics wise, Scavenger's combination mode is the "worst" of all the constructicons as it looks like nothing but a red blob, so it's kinda hard to remember how it is supposed to look and tab together.

I'm sorry to say these pictures really reminded me why I don't like the figure. I was thinking "backpacks are so common nowadays, surely I'd accept AOE Galvatron", but seeing him here, boy that backpack is absurdly wide.

BTW, not a criticism of your pictures, it's entirely down to the toy itself.

With AOE Galvatron, I don't know if "early concept art" is an excuse, since the detailing is more or less correct. It's entirely just down to the figure being a shellformer.

That's exactly what they did with Evasion Prime, so I do wonder why they didn't do that for Galvatron. Perhaps the curviness of the vehicle and the inability to put kibble on the arms (at least if they wanted to be accurate) made it too complicated to do so.

Got these two photos today, at the cost of a leg that can barely support any weight now

I wonder if they'll ever make SS Protoform figures. Can't see them being very popular, but I'd definitely get them.

I don't think I've given Blackout enough attention, so I'm messing with him for a bit. Very surprised how dynamic he can be with those rotor blades.
