    Today’s haul

Bit of a fun story with Soundwave I remember seeing him as a kid thinking he looked so cool and I remember begging my mom for him she said no fast forward a few weeks and saw him again mom said no again I believe I saw him a 3rd time and my mom said no for a 3rd time but then on the 4th attempt she let me get him and… I didn’t really like him that much. But compared to the SS figure I think he may actually be better so I picked him up again

The last job on a project sometimes can be the most scary…
Bee is ready for his stripes…
This might make him or break him..
    image.jpg
it might not look it but this paintjob has been the hardest ever, white pearl base, several coats of translucent pearl yellow with a dash of orange..

If I ruin it, 6 hours of work down the drain

No, I looked at the original movie car for references, measured the center and masked the yellow that should remain yellow. Measure, measure, mask, measure again and mask the rest.

    It went well thank heavens!
Ill let it all cure for tonight and ill hit Bee with his final clear coat tomorrow and then the detailpaint on the botmode can commence prior to polish wax and end assembly.

Sorry if this is offtopic for the thread, but i need to get this off my chest
Is it just me or are ss deluxes like, really bad? I think I've handled every new mold released in the line except maybe 2 or 3 and 95% of them has been plagued with qc issues, lack of paint, or just flat out ugly. I just picked up b-127 and dino, and they both have incredibly ugly backpacks, very boring transformations, dinos articulation is very lacking, and b-127 Is probably one of the floppiest figures I've handled in a long time. There is the odd exception like offroad bumblebee, jet shatter, sideswipe, 86 jazz, stinger, and concept camaro bumblebee but as a whole they quite frankly feel like knockoffs and are always restricted in one form or another. It's particularly odd to me because wfc is consistently putting out fantastic deluxes and my money feels wasted being invested in studio series despite loving most of the designs and characters. Hearing jolt is more of the same is SO disappointing because id love a movie accurate updated version of the character, but it looks like we won't be getting that.

Besides a few that aren't quite up to par (VW Bee, Topspin, B-127, Crowbar) I think Studio Series has done great with its deluxes. I think Dino is excellent, the transformation was pretty inventive with all the turning it does and how well the backpack folds up.

Just based on reviews seems that way. I've only been buying voyager classes and leaders because the deluxes have looked pretty bad so far. Weirdly the only 2 deluxes I have from ss are Lockdown and satellite soundwave. They both feel like solid figures.

I have to disagree. Considering what they have to do with these insanely complex designs at their smallest price point (for this line) I think that overall they have done a good job. WFC is easy street compared to what they have to do with these things. When I look at most WFC figures I sometimes feel like “I could do that” but not often with studio series.

Of course it’s a huge product line so some are terrible but also some have been some of my favorite mainline transformers figures of all time so I definitely don’t think they’re bad overall.

Fair enough. I felt like dinos transformation was very paint by numbers. And i imagine him to be a very dynamic character, yet found myself very frustrated by his lack of articulation as i wasn't able to get him in a pose that really satisfied me. The shoulders were restricted by the kibble, his head was very limited, no ankle tilt, etc.
But hey, I'm happy for you if you're satisfied. I just feel consistently ripped off by the $20 price tag and feel hasbro could do much, much better.

Lockdown and satellite Soundwave are pretty solid in terms of qc. I hate the way satellite Soundwave looks though, which kind of ruins its bright spots . Lockdown was an all around solid figure for sure.

I agree many WFC figures are based on much simpler designs so that’s why I think it’s way more impressive when they can get a complicated movie design to work as a 20$ figure

They're very inconsistent. Sometimes I'm very impressed with what they do at the price point like with jet shatter, jeep bumblebee, drift, and arcee triplets. But most of the time it's poorly done or a qc nightmare.

He has the entire car not so subtlety hanging off his back and messes up the silhouette and obnoxiously big door wings, he definitely has a backpack. Just not as obtrusive and glaring as something like b-127 or ww2 bee
