I've been wondering this too.
So good news and bad news.
The good news is that I did finish ROTF Bee and got it gloss coated.
The bad news is that the gloss coat caused the black paint on the chest and one shoulder to run. I’m going to have to spend more time to fix it, but I promised pics today so here’s the finished vehicle mode!
SS Demolishor and SS Sideways are going to take a while....
They're pretty chill about that.
After touching this guy up, do you think he's worth the pickup? I prefer the yellow on this one compared to that of SS 49, that and SS 49 isn't really the 2007 version... the cars body-style that is.
I could see DOTM Ironhide using the mexican stand-off background & que using chicago battle
For me, it absolutely is. The new shade of yellow is perfect, and the windows are tinted which is nice. I also really like that Sam is included!
The issue is that the grill is half unpainted and the light gray plastic isn’t great. That’s not a problem for me since I painted it up, but straight out of the box SS-49 may have it. SS-74 has more potential, though.
On a side note, the back of the car and roof are borrowed from SS-49 so there’s a couple very minor things that aren’t accurate to the ROTF Concept Camaro - the antenna on top and the little divots on the back. The front area though, which was the biggest problem area for SS-49 regarding the concept vs production Camaros, has been remolded and is accurate to the Camaro seen on screen.
Good to know! I was looking closely at different pictures and noticed that the front was remolded... although it was a little tough to tell due to your great paint work
The grill was my initial issue, but that is definitely fixable, obviously haha. So I'll be on the look out for it this weekend
It's great how you notice all the intricacies, for instance until I saw your pics, I had no idea that there was black on ROTF Bee's hub caps.
SS Sideways is one of my most wanted figures. He didn’t have much screen time in the movie, but he was big in the games and even shows up on the ride at Universal!
Thank you! I actually didn’t know about the hubcaps at first, It took me a little while looking through reference pics to notice.
Hope you can track Bee down! It’s a fantastic mold.
Thank you for painting the spoke inserts.
You're welcome! xD
Looking at it again I need to spruce up that rear right one, though.
Also, I think I found the problem I had with Bee - all the black paint that got messed up was from a new paint pen that I found. It's scraping off super easy too (which is nice, I guess), so when I fix it I'll use the stuff from the bottle.
Thanks guys, made the right choice and chose Boda Barricade! Can't say no to the inspiration for this guy. Also special thanks to @artimus prime for tagging me on the contest!
Sideways was one of the best ROTF Deluxes in my opinion, so lucky for us even though he'll need to wait a while for SS scale, scale-aside his toy ain't so awful.
I want him too for that gorgeous Audi R8 mode! If Hasbro sadly won't be able to secure his license again, I hope they could at least do him in the right deco this time with the silver stripes and black line.
My Father suggested we watch Bumblebee tonight. I hadn't seen it since it came out on digital. It is so much better then I remember. I can't believe I missed the "You got the touch" reference until now. We both agreed that the Cybertron scene was the best scene in the movie. We're going to finish it tomorrow night.
Yup, all 2 mins of it lol. That and the fight at the end of the movie were the best parts.
We need an SS Sideways to balance out the RotF Game sniper roster. He’d really go great with Breakaway (if he gets made (which he definitely will (or won’t (don’t joke like that))).
Agreed, Bumblebee is overrated IMO but the Cybertron scene was definitely the best part of the movie
I think the movie was highly praised mostly because it was a change of pace that people liked. It’s more of a 70% movie than a 90% like it was rated, but hey, if it means Hasbro changes things up and puts more effort in, I’m down for over rating it.
You know something is kinda bothering me about SS Breakaway being considered. Don’t get me wrong I REALLY WANT SS Breakaway to happen I already have high hopes and can’t wait to see it but don’t you guys find it a little weird how characters like Galvatron, Devcon, the Twins and reportedly the TLK cast barring Megatron are getting skipped but a character that didn’t actually appear on screen may be happening? It seems to go against the rules Hasbro set up for SS.
Technically if you count games he still fits the build the cast tagline
You’re not wrong. If he’s an excuse to dig into the games 1-3 cast I’m 110% down for it. If we’re lucky we’ll I think we’ll see Breakaway in late 2022
