Shego works but Drakken needs more blue skin. I get it, they're dialing it back a bit but still, not blue enough
Could have used some makeup on Shego as well to make her paller but overall for a Disney Channel original movie it looks pretty OK
So I'm like, definitely not in the demographic for this, but I think the issue with doing Kim Possible in live action is that their hair has such remarkable volume. You could open a bottle on the back corner of Kim and Shego's hair. And that just doesn't work with real people. It also doesn't help that Kim sounded like she was being voiced by a 28 year old in the show (she was actually 18 though, I just checked)
Here is one that works They don't have the banter level so far from the cartoon, and Darken sounds to classical villain, and not enough annoying dork.
For what is clearly on the level of all Disney Channel Original movies, it looks quite decent. Again, for a made for tv movie.
The budget of this is ridiculous. It seems like a Spy Kids movie. I laughed out loud when I saw the jetpack... it looked like a toy. At least Tod Stashwick (he was Deacon in 12 Monkeys and I loved the actor and the character too) seems to be enjoying hamming it up as a stereotypical Bond villain. I remember Doug being a big fan of Kim Possible... I think we can expect a NC review of this. Pretty sure everyone tried their hardest to forget they even existed. I can tell just how beloved they were by how Praktiker, a local hardware store, still has huge amounts of unsold copies of the last two live action Ben 10 movies even now.
After catching the last 30 minutes of this while channel surfing, I can confirm that this was a pile of shit. I’ll start with something positive. The guy they got to play Ron was actually kinda perfect. He nailed Will Friedle’s mannerisms and speech patterns. While She-Go looked terrible, her actress gave a decent performance. Now onto the bad. Take a seat if you haven’t already because there’s a lot wrong. I don’t know about the first 2/3 of the movie, but Kim was just not written properly. She was way too emotional and not enough of a “take action” kind of girl. Sadie Stanley just played the role so weak too. Her voiceover tells about how great of a hero she is, but we never see it. The fight scenes were bad. The 3 Ninjas movies had better fight choreography. You’re BAC level will skyrocket if you play a drinking game in which you do a shot every time someone does a flip. Alyson Hannigan is wasted in this movie. The plot twist they throw in seemed very creepy and stalker-ish. Granted, I don’t know how they built up to that, but considering this is Disney Channel writing we’re dealing with here, I’m willing to bet that sucked too. Clearly, this was not made for fans of the show. I just don’t understand why Disney didn’t put more effort into this. Everyone in Hollywood is trying to push the female hero thing right now, and Disney just half assed an adaptation of really good female action character. At least give it a Deadpool level budget and get some bigger stars, and that version of the movie probably would have made some decent money at the box office.
