First JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS Poster Hits; Cast Announced Aubrey Peeples - Jem Stefanie Scott - Kimber Aurora Perrineau - Shana Hayley Kiyoko - Aja Interesting choices.
Who? Who? Who? Who? Facetiousness aside, can't say I'm surprised. It's hard to imagine anyone credible or actually known would be part of a movie like this. Sort of reminds me of the Sucker Punch casting choices.
Really? The teaser poster couldn't have been a silhouetted Jem in mid-transformation, with "Showtime, Synergy" as its tagline? I mean, I'm no fan of the series, but when I think Jem and The Holograms, I don't think "random music video style close up shots" of the cast, as the poster image.
well the cast doesn't sound to be terrible. might actually be decent choices. considering that they're all no-named actresses. probably the best route to go for something like this. i love to think someone saw sharknado, and said "I want that girl as Jem!"
I love how many people are able to determine the quality of a movie from a still shot consisting only of a portion of an actress's face. How are all these people not working in Hollywood?! They could make the studios millions (millions, I tell ya) with these psychic powers. Funny thing is that everyone would be all over the studio if they had cast an A-list actress in the role as well. (And people wonder why the studios don't listen to the fans.)
Oh, I get that. It might actually be a fun little film for what it is. But we see this stupid "outrage" with every film/game/etc. Hell, they haven't even started filming the next Superman movie but I'm already told how badly Ben Affleck ruined it. Remember all the fuss about how the Transformers films were going to suck because of "OMG!!! FLAMES!!!"? I don't think Prime's paint job even cracks the top 100 things that are wrong with "Dark of the Moon." This is nothing new. Even pre-internet Iit was well known that "Waterworld" was a financial disaster before it was released. Of course, that was before it came in $30 million under budget ($170M/$200M) and turned a profit.
Waterworld barely turned a profit, $80 Million on a $175 Million budget isn't something any studio brags about, especially for a summer blockbuster. To coincide with that pre Internet we all new The Postman was a failure and I'm pretty sure that was a Christmas/Holiday release. I think you're off the mark with this one anyway, It's not 'the casting' or 'the look' exactly. Right now the first teaser look like something trying to be dark and gritty with introspective shots when all I want is lots of pink and bubblegum pop.
The poster for those who didn't click the link. If this movie doesn't have the holagram stuff, crazy girl band that tries to kill jem on live tv and never get arrested, mad bad guys wanting to take over the world or any of the sci-fi stuff then it will just be another "josie and the pussycats" movie. You need the scii-fi fantasy stuff! This is in the same universe ans transformers, gijoe, mask, inhumanoids, and cops after all! My niece has been watching the reruns on hub and loves them so she will be happy for this movie at least.
i'd still be okay with that. Josie and the Pussycats is a fun movie. at least, it's more entertaining then the stupid cartoon was. now the "in space" cartoon is another story.
To think that before "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" men used to watch this. XD Really nice poster.
I dunno how I feel about this. On one hand, I find the show rather enjoyable. I mean, yeah, it's made of five different kinds of 80's cheese, but it's fun to watch (and I really wanna do some fan art). And, speaking from my girlfriend's point of view, maybe there'll be some new toys. She's almost more interested in Jem than Barbie. But on the other hand, a lot of the concepts in the show really relied on the fact it was a cartoon, especially one from the 80's. They better get creative on updating it, to say the least.
