I still can't imagine people giving 170 usd for this figure.
I’d say the Optimus design from Rise of the Beasts is probably not very well known.
From King Grimlock #1:
That kind of just looks like G1 Optimus but shares ER Prime's problem of having blue eyes on a blue head rather than either having silver back there or yellow eyes.
The shoulders are different (King Grimlock OP has stuff sticking out near the shoulder joints), the legs look like he is wearing very high blue boots and the crotch is different. So, I would say this design is quite unique.
Has anyone ever worked out exactly what figures were used/kitbashed together for this sketch? Prime, Starscream, and Mirage were all Robotmasters figures, Grimlock and Swoop use their G1 toys and Bumblebee seems to use a heavily modified version of his own in Marvel comics colors. But then I see Optimus arm detailing on Ratchet and Ironhide and Jazz is 100% a customized Hot Rod figure, but I can't figure out which one.
Im fairly certain that Prowl and Jazz were made from the Megatron and Hotrods from this line.
As to Ratchet abd Ironhide, looks to me they used the G1 toys, the ones with no heads
but added the shoulders and Arms from this
Really dig the art here. It might come across as overly raw or sketchy for some, but to me it really has a gritty, organic feel to it. Sometimes line art that focuses way too hard on being "perfect" and polished can look a bit lifeless and unexpressive.
Here's Optimus' design from the How To Ride A Dinobot shorts
This is the best Bayverse Optimus design because I can actually tell what I'm looking at
I do like this one, though I've come to like the unreleased deco rather more:
Samurai Jack vibes
This looks like they drew Ultra Magnus first, then had the script changed on them and had to make it Optimus. Fast.
