Hey y'all. Got some Bond DVD sets for Christmas this year, and unfortunately got two copies of the same volume. I didn't get a gift receipt for these, and I'm trying to swap one of the duplicates for a volume I don't have. Unfortunately Circuit City won't touch it without a receipt, and Best Buy will give me the "lowest price in the last 30 days" which won't buy me the one I lack. Do you guy's know why they won't help me, and do you have any suggestions on how to make this work out?
Well unfortunately, in my experience, no receipt = no service. Your best bet is to talk to one of the people who got you the set and ask if they have the original receipt, you should be able to get some service once you have that. Without a receipt they don't know if it really was purchased from there store or even if it is stolen merchandise.
Take it back to Wal-Mart. They'll exchange anything receipt or no receipt. As long as it's still packaged you should be good...
This is what I ended up doing. Had to order the right volume online using site to store for free shipping, but it should work out.
I just still don't understand why they wouldn't swap me. Mine was sealed new... it's silly. I can understand why they wouldn't give me money, and maybe why they'd be hesitant for store credit, but an even trade for almost exactly the same thing. It's just silly/dumb. Bah! Humbug! I suppose it has something to do with worker drones. I guess these companies are set up so that all the employees are numbers and thinking is not required if not discouraged. They don't trust the man on the scene to make a good decision, so they remove the possibility.
I took a case of glasses back somewhere, I forget the store, but since we didn't have a reciept, they gave us the lowest price I think the item had ever seen, which was less than $5. We just kept them to use as the junky glasses. Point is that without a receipt your gonna get screwed. that was over 8 years ago BTW, so the receipt issue isn't new. still, hope you enjoy what you traded for.
