Idc he should be the same size as the other triple changers. There’s no point in having a Springer, Astrotrain, Blitzwing, Sandstorm, and (presumably) Octane all at one scale and then Broadside much bigger. Who cares about sunbow?

Studio Series 86 would not be a thing if no one cared about Sunbow.

If Hasbro wanted to do something fun with Broadside, I think it'd be cool for him to work star saber/nearly Liokaiser (in terms of use of a core jet figure) style:

Broadside as a voyager size jet which has his "incorrect" model as a robot mode, which can then combine with a larger chassis (waiting to see prime to know if commander is viable) which forms the aircraft carrier mode, and maybe even can become his main model robot mode without the smaller piece.

Only reason I suggest that is it could open up a good few repaint options -

Flattop (Deception micromaster) who's larger partner could be Tidal Wave, or a unique character

I still would prefer a normal scale one - maybe a bulkier leader who will get a large back pack upgrade piece, could be used as a slightly more generic army builder of the large guys from the Cybertron games

I mean, seeing as they’re doing Pretenders at Core, Deluxe and Voyager sizes it seems size consistency within subgroups has been defenestrated, so Commander Broadside is a possibility.

Personally, I’d probably prefer a Voyager/Leader due to lower costs/display space, but I’d be fine with a Commander.

There's no point in one of the Triple Changers transforming into a friggin' aircraft carrier and them be no bigger than the other guys!

I mean it's not like it's gonna be a to scale aircraft carrier in any conceivable way and it's not gonna have any play pattern unless you count slapping the sword or gun accessory on it a "play pattern" so does it really matter? It's just his slab mode that you turn him into cause nobody wants to make his jet mode look good.

The Commander class has never been about repaints or retools, especially for a nobody like Flattop. They are all built from the ground up.

Interesting use as an army builder, but it wouldn’t work because the stylization would be different (Legacy v SS WFC) and I can’t think of many who would army build a $90 figure.

Currently a Bulky Leader would be considered a Dinobot, so not exactly fitting scale. Also, besides the wings, Broadside has a very clean back and Leader would have some right constraints with his Triple Changer engineering, meaning he would most likely be even shorter than he’s supposed to.
I can tell you now, Broadside will not be as big as Jetfire.

    Sorry wasn't really clear

Tbh I'd imagine people would more be there for Tidal Wave than Flattop in the proposed repaint, and I was more thinking g1-ified autobot heavies - same way I'm using Tarn as the Deception ones after already owning Kultur

I suppose I more meant a bulky voyager at leader pricing, which could have the option to armour up just a little bit into a more Stormbringer inspired chonk

fair fair. But also tbf if we followed sunbow exactly then the Dinobots would be much flatter n more boring. When it comes to Broadside I couldn’t care less about sunbow.

I don’t care about the pretenders being the same size but I do care about the triple changers being around the same size.

Vehicle scale has never played a role in this for me. If this was the case I’d be upset astrotrain, who turns into a spaceship that can carry multiple regular sized cons, wasn’t a titan if not larger.

More there? Absolutely. They’d also hate that it wasn’t it’s own mold, or as you proposed, a Leader instead of a Commander or Titan.

I sincerely think Broadside will never be good at the Voyager or Leader price points without very obvious compromises and problems. Accurate scale? Gone. Jet mode? Complete afterthought or gone entirely. Engineering? Childish.
Look at every Armored Leader, Magnus, Shockwave, the core is always incredibly basic. Look at Albino Prime and imagine him as a Triple Changer jet and aircraft carrier.

I’d like my teams to all be around the same size. So I’d like him to be Springer sized. Maybe make him leader for bulk, but not much taller than Springer, toy and Marvel style.

    A) I think that the back of figures is the part Hasbro cares least about being accurate, fair amount of figures going around with back kibble.
    B) The option of him being a Leader already came with the caveat of him being Voyager sized and not cartoon scale (as per “lower display space”)
    C) Maybe so, but he wouldn’t necessarily not be smaller seeing as Legacy Motormaster is a rather large figure with a fair bit of parts in Combiner mode (and the limb gaps are a non-issue, for a normal bot the mass of the limbs would be adjusted as they don’t have to wear other figures). And even if he is smaller but more complex, he wouldn't be any smaller than Haslab Star Saber.
    Okay then, Mr Double Standards.

Aside from like the Skids or the trainbots I can’t imagine buying a modern masterpiece. They all look so boring. Third party even more so, somehow.

I don’t see how they could fit his Triple Changer engineering into Voyager scale, Marvel Comics style sure, but Sunbow no. Might I remind you of:

How is this a double standard? I haven’t cared about the pretenders (bar Bludgeon) until these updates. The pretenders being the same size isn’t important to me as I don’t really care about them too much. I have always liked the triple changers so it is important to me that they are around the same size and not one randomly Jetfire sized bot.
How is that a double standard?

I mean, yeah, that's the thing, though. Space shuttles are about 100 feet long. They're pretty dang big. But aircraft carriers are ten times larger than that. They're 1000 feet long. So I feel Broadside can be a little bigger, and apparently the cartoon agreed!
