Honestly they really don't, the problem is the human shells for the autobot pretenders aren't cool and just kinda boring. (Also on the topic of Minicons, they can be released at a later time tbh.)

Most modern media appearances for Autobots pretenders is usually just the inner robot or rarely a mix of robot and shell. If they had human faces, they wouldn't mesh well with current figures and especially with how they're handling modern pretenders in Transformers Generations. (Even then I don't really see the fuss of bringing back the pretender gimmick, I wouldn't be against it but the current way is the best of both worlds in my opinion).

Honestly Metal Hawk will most likely be his standard robot mode which is fine honestly and his most popular look .

 

This. Metalhawk is a Legacy character from Masterforce. I am confident Takara will do him justice..

 

i have nothing left to say. you personally dislike the human aspect, that doesn't change the fact that its a crucial part of pretenders. its an organic shell. a robot inside another robot is cool but its not pretenders.

 

He didn't say he hated Pretenders, just that A: They are kinda boring and b: Pretender shells wouldn't fit with the Legacy line. Hence the current Pretender figures are a mix of the shell and the robot.

Yeah I will not be surprised if Metalhawk is Jhiaxus retool with new head, knees, chest and cockpit.
Also Jhiaxus' wings can be positioned higher up a bit in his jet mode, and funny enough it sorta looks normal...

 

I love how there can be so many theories about one figure.  

 

Personally really hope metalhawk is just the core robot adding human aspects did not work well the first time.

 

ok? it doesnt matter if other people find them boring lol. if theyre being updated they should be updated well. they didnt change BW designs for the sake of appealing to non-BW fans. if you dont like pretenders, i dont see why they should be redesigned for you.

and, if its a mix of shell and robot like the other three, then it would have the shell head with no changes. thats what the previous three pretenders have done.

 

No one is talking about redesigning them, the only reason the shell heads are being used on the Con Pretenders is because they are more recognisable, to the fans and newcomers of the characters, no sense having a character called Skullgrin who's robot mode has a generic robot mode head. The pretender head is easily the best of the 2 as the case with the other con pretenders.

I'd argue we will probably see the actual robot modes for the human Pretenders because having the human heads would just be weird. And the robots are more recognisable as apposed to the shells (the humans)

That's literally what the legacy updates are, and the person I was talking to said it was a good idea.

Its just a dude in a mech suit. I don't get why this would be so odd.

 

Can someone pls explain this to me? What are the pretenders? humans in Cybertronian suits? Like the exo suit? or Silas inside breakdown in TFP?

I've been thinking a good while about the best way for them to do a human pretender, and I believe that taking the Beast Wars Mutant approach is the best way to do it:

Hear me out: imagine Metalhawk's human face opening wide at the mouth, like a python about to gorge itself on a wild pig, only to reveal his robot face! I think I've found the answer to doing Pretenders in the mainline!

Aside from the Prime characters (and the Pretenders for obvious reasons) nothing has been redesigned and all are recognisable aside from Prime Arcee. And even saying that, going by the colours alone you can tell its at least supposed to be her

 

Chug fans will ask for accuracy for anything sunbow G1 then act like it's the worst thing ever for literally anything else.

 

A bad botcon retool doesn't invalidate the entire concept of a toy that looks like a dude in armour  

Also "redesigned" doesn't mean unrecognisable, it means... redesigned. The legacy pretenders and tfp guys are redesigned regardless of how recognisable they are

 

If it was core metal hawk, I would be fine if he was like the other pretenders, voyager is a different story
