Armada Starscream’s wings and sword not being made worse by a dumb gimmick is one of the best aspects of the new Legacy figure.

 

Oh as if the sword gimmick actually made the wing look bad at all.

Well, we might as well wait a long time before they do a Leader Class version of Armada Starscream with Swindle included in the eventual future.

 

It definitely does when you have the sword detached and there's a large chunk of the wing missing.

 

The lack of accurate colors, the flimsy plastic, the inexplicable lack of Mini-Con ports, it's just hard for me to look at him and not see a downgrade compared to the 2013 Generations Deluxe, same way I felt about Kingdom Rhinox
It'll never happen, but I would totally buy an quality upscaled knock-off of that (now) old Deluxe, as long as they kept the Mini-Con ports the same size

 

I’d have paid the price if they upped the size class of each character if it meant they could have unhindered “legacy” gimmicks and their Mini-Con partner. Very happily but I understand why that wouldn’t work.

 

Still need to get K. Rhinox at some point.

I see what your saying and I get the minicon stuff but personally doesn’t bug me since I find care about minicons that much toy wise. To me the plastic was fine, not great but something about the feel of the plastic just felt fun to pose and encouraged me to pose him more.

My complaints articulation wise I wish he had wrist rotation and maybe a way to get him to how a sword with two hands but as is you can get some decent poses out of him.

 

Yeah and that's his thing, the Decepticons were all designed to be asymmetrical to some degree and that was Starscream's and was an awesome bit of weapon integration that should have been replicated in some form. It would be like not having a new Cybertron Megatron have his integrated weapons in exchange for undersized one coloured blobs, if you didn't like it than just don't use don't take away the play features.

 

I do like Starscream generally, but there's some paint issues that as an Armada fan bother me. The missing black of the torso, cannons and biceps, the grey on the legs and top of the jet, and the sword being a dull grey just don't look right. It seems like this version of Starscream just gets shafted in the paint department every time. And without Takara Legends, there's not much hope of a more accurate version unless they try again with Premium Finish, which let's be honest seems dead in the water.

 

Yeah it kinda sucks when pretty major features get treated like "flaws" that need to be "fixed"

 

if someone actually wanted they could fix the no minicon port issue on screamer relatively easy. Sadly I don't have a 3d printer at my disposal. Excuse the shitty MS paint mock up, short on time to get my example across. It would parts form, also only accessible when the cannons are folded out.

 

I hate the asymmetrical wings. Literally can’t help but notice it. Doesn’t ruin the figure but boy does it make it so much worse. It’d be different if the sword looked good but for such a subpar weapon I just have to ask why?? Like I get at the time it was all gimmicks all the time… so fair. I still like that figure and it’s good. But for a modern update? I’d rather a wing and sword look good than a gimmick for the sake of “oh it was there on the original” you know? I still want Ratchet and Ironhide to have heads even if the G1 figures didn’t.

 

The difference is their heads weren't toy gimmicks or had anything going on in the cartoon or comics at all whatsoever. An actually comparison would for the argument on if they should transform by themselves or with their gun-stations included. Or Ultra Magnus's armour vs an all-in-one transformation.

 

Except the sword wasn't a limitation of the toy like with the G1 figures, it was a core part of the character and his design, it's fine to not like it but it shouldn't have to be changed

 

No sleds and all-in-one is the correct answer.

It was a dumb part of the design so I’m happy it was changed. If something isn’t good there’s no point in bringing into a new iteration just because it used to be that way.

*obviously this is all my opinion n I recognize that.

 

And as a fan of the original I liked it. Different strokes for different folks shouldn't just mean until I dislike something and want it changed to fit my tastes.
