Agreed, same for TFA the og figure for the most part are great but still would like new versions especially for new fans or some other fiction.

The og Big Convoy doesn’t really interest me but a new one with a better Mammoth mode might get me. Honestly Legacy doing new updates of characters from different universes make/made me want to either buy them or go back and watch the shows.

Because people like me want to have a variety of figures from various franchises all in the same aesthetic? If they were in the Prime style I likely wouldn’t buy them. Maybe they can do more Prime and Animated style designs in Studio Series.

Yessss....just keep the late G1 stuff coming! I like where that\'s heading and will buy Metalhawk and Needlenose even though they\'re not super high on my list.

 

Or give it a few more years as the nostalgia cycle turns and those will be in vogue. At which point people will be mad that characters from G1/BW are now getting ruined by being redesigned as Prime/Animated characters.

 

So Metalhawk is likely Jhiaxus or Armada Starscream. My guess would be for Jhiaxus because Armada Starscream has a lot of repaint potential already.

 

I would love to see the return of Pretender shells, eapecially the shells that transform and incorporate into the alt mode, as was the case with G1 Metalhawk.

 

I figured it was just derivative of Dominant which is as close as you can get to making Big sound cool.

 

That's why I think Jhiaxus is a pretool for *somebody.* Namely Thunderwing.

The hand articulation seems like a giveaway. The only guys who've had that so far are all figures who've come with a Matrix. The exception being 86 Starscream, who had it added to the ER mold when so he could do the pose from the movie.

Jhiaxus being a seemingly rando getting that treatment...odd. I think that plus the giant empty space under his canopy in jet mode are because a leader version of that mold is going to incorporate the drone portion of someone like Thunderwing.

Thank you! People still think we are in the Prime Wars era for some reason. When was the last time a figure was just a somewhat decent retool of an existing mold and not a Gen Selects release? Galaxy Force Prime in Siege? I am sure Metalhawk is getting its own mold. God damn Jhiaxus got his own mold after all.

This is my thinking as well. They could possibly make Thunderwing a leader class that uses the Jhiaxus base mold engineering while also giving a core bot that also transforms and works like the original toy did. Jhiaxus's alt mode already looks like it was designed for a mini jet to dock underneath its nose cone. Plus if the give him a slightly bigger backpack to make his chest even more hollow I can see them figuring out a way to get the core bot to plug in there while in bot mode.

More so Domitius Major, I've been using that name (for Big Convoy) for years, well before Masterdominus was made as a character.

If Thunderwing is a Jhiaxus remold that'll be the biggest fucking monkey paw ever. Like I'm not a big fan of Legacy Armada Starscream but it's still a decent enough figure from the looks of it that can hopefully just stand towards the back of group shots with the armada so I can focus on the ones I do like more, but a Thunderwing from Jhiaxus? That'd do nothing for me. It'd basically just be the deluxe again, way too small and without any of the features I find cool about the character. So I'd end up still having to use my 3P IDW Thunderwing as a stand in for marvel Thunderwing.

 

Metalhawk didn’t have a transforming shell. Only the Botcon version did that.

 

Agreed. It would be cool if we got his pretender shell as the figure, but of course modified to be more robotic and look like Cybertronian.

 

The only Mega Pretenders, if I remember correctly: Vroom, Thunderwing, and Crossblades (aka Blue Bacchus)



Wait wait there was also an Ultra Pretender because I heard you like Pretenders so I put a Pretender in your Pretender so you can pretend while you're pretending...

 

I'd do terrible things to get actual updates for these guys. As in actual Mega and Ultra Pretenders. I'd do nothing for Legacy Iguanus style updates for them.

 

I'm pretty sure Thunderwing is in the pipeline...so just be patient.
