well, okay? You just asked if it had gotten a DVD release with subs, the Blu-rays look and sound fantastic, and they’re usually more expensive than that.

If you’re looking for cheaper you could hunt on eBay.

Shiro basically pulls a G-Gundam before G-Gundam existed (I think, not 100% on the timeline of when the two series were originally created)

Shiro goes literally insane from the power of love so hard that it leaves Norris absolutely shocked (and slapped in the face as a result), and then later it's who else but the power couple driving a beam attack into the heart of a giant monstrosity.

Garrod made a living out of hijacking mobile suits and selling them, and the dude is probably the best kid Gundam protag for me. Nothing beats him holding the colony laser hostage to get his girlfriend back then immediately blowing it up anyway because of course he’s not going to just let the bad guys have a massive death ray. :lol

Shiro is one of the few UC pilots who consistently remembers he’s potting a giant humanoid robot, and would tackle and grapple enemies if necessary, not to mention ripping off his own Gundam’s arm as a desperation cudgel.

Garrod is just a damn good protag, regardless of the genre. In an era with countless soulless self insert power fantasies, it is beyond refreshing to have a classic to fall back on where a normal dude is top tier because of creativity and will power.

He negotiated for Tiffa's release perfectly. He only had 2 terms:

    1. Release Tiffa or I'll open fire
    2. The next shot will be a direct hit
He never said he wouldn't fire if Tiffa was released. He did exactly what he threatened he would do.

Every time I try to do that, it looks good only for a couple of months tops.
By then I'll have added more to the backlog and things are all out of order again.

Haha yeah I get you. Eventually though I feel like I’m going to run out of normal kits and only be left with P-Bandai kits. But maybe thats just me being wack, IDK. I’ve expanded my HG collecting to include Wing, Seed, OO, ontop of UC and BF/BD/BMTV but a part of me wonders how long it will take me collection most of the HGs from the past 24 years.

And all primary colors for my RE/100 Lindwurm done!
And right on time too, finished everything on May 15. Probably won't have time to assemble until the weekend, though.

There was A LOT more parts to paint in the primary color than I originally thought. So much that I couldn't fit all of them in my layout box at once.

At this point it should be pretty easy to see the inspiration behind the color scheme. :)

Today I got in two very powerful and important UC Mobile Suits!
    C405AD7B-50AC-4437-92FB-028C2292B8AE.jpeg

Also, I just learned that apperently when they were making Reconguista in G they intended for it to be set 500 years after Turn A and thats a load of absolute horseshit that completly undermines the point and meaning behind Turn A. :(

Saw some news I felt was worth parroting.

    ROV painted prototypes.

All this show had going for it was the designs and these look pretty bad. The Zaku’s colors are awful and the EX looks like a Hollywood attempt at a Gundam by sucking all the fun and color out of it.

Look at the mirror, it’s there for a reason.

And in other news, Sawanon Hiroyuki makes the worst song cover of all time wtf.

Funnily enough, when Yoshiyuki Tomino worked on the original 0079 anime series back then, he originally wanted the RX-78-2 to be in a more down-to-earth, reasonable military-esque colors that includes a mix of white, aircraft gray, and red (ala like the colors on the Gundam EX) but this was overruled by the producers, who felt that having bright primary colors like white, red, blue and yellow on the titular Gundam would sell more toys, and thus the toyetic colors of the RX-78-2 (and the rest of its sister units such as the Guntank and Guncannon) that we all know were born.

Coincidentally enough, the show somehow manages to make the toyetic color schemes of the RX-78-2 and the other Project V mobile suits makes sense: In-universe, they were prototypes, and a lot of prototype jet fighters in the 1970s and 80s were also painted in similar bright and bold colours IRL:

What is interesting is that despite how iconic it was, Tomino absolutely hated the final color scheme that the RX-78-2 Gundam had as he considered it unrealistic for a war machine, but he was ultimately forced to do it by the sponsors. However, considering the Gundam (and the rest of its Project V sister units) was a prototype that was about to be transported to the bigwigs at Jaburo for inspection and possibly a demonstration of its capabilities, them spotting similarly toy-ish looking paint job is actually also pretty realistic - despite not in a way Tomino intended and wanted!

Well played Bandai.... I still have some concerns. Like how this doesn't seem physically possible especially with Justice's proportions and shoulder armor. Then again, the power of anime plot armor shells. Build Burning can do it with a Dom shell, so can Justice do it with the Z'Knockoff.

It's an Easter egg of model design like the Seravee II head, complete with yellow injection molded v-crest in the HG Raphael. I suppose the pads will be molded separately from the Z'knockoff's feet in Justice's true color scheme.

    -
Minimal work tonight after farm work all day. Before I went out there I applied a coat of clear green on the eyes, forehead camera, and targeting sight for the beam rifle.

    20240516_125015.jpg

They're supposed to be green but Bandai molded the clear parts in pale blue. Now they're teal.

That's when I had another idea.

I am going to keep putting my best effort into the RG Zeta until morale improves!

    20240516_204844.jpg

Running lights everywhere! The fun with silver paint is it's automatically the best backer coat for a clear color.

I went back over the legs and waist, and applied some there too.

And yet in the series they make lots of direct references to the Universal Century and say that the Reguild Century directly follows it.
There’s even a museum with a bunch of UC mobile suits in it.
So yeah the ‘Reco comes after Turn A’ idea doesn’t really make sense to me either but whatever

Huh, didn’t know that about the aircraft colors; that actually makes me appreciate the Gundam’s color scheme a bit more.

Having said that, I have to say I do also really like the Rollout Color Gundam (it’s one of my most wanted P-Bandais):

I didn't think it was bad. Sure that cover wasn't as good as the original or Sawano Hiroyuki's normal stuff bit it wasn't as terrible as, let's say, the English version of DBS's final battle theme.
