Well, no, there's also the line of brand new HG kits based on the movie as well.

Honestly it seems weird to me to think Bandai's somehow ignoring SEED when it's obviously their most popular series outside UC. We've had the many MG Zakus, RE:1/100 kits, the MGEX, the upcoming HGCE Destroy, and you know we'll probably get at least one Master Grade from the movie.

Just because Bandai isn't devoting an entire year of their HG line to SEED doesn't mean it's being ignored. I'm sure the original GATX lineup will get modern HGs soon enough, like how Wing had its HGAC line pickup years after the original Wing and Zero.

This isn't uncommon for Bandai to reprint a series specific set of kits, *and make newer models* for the upcoming project. The Destroy is getting the HGCE treatment since it was never given a model kit to begin with as the series was airing.

@deathzero23 Speaking of, I was surprised to see the 20th anniversary set is using the original Providence kit from 20 years ago.

First picture I saw I thought maybe it was the HGCE Freedom, finally doing an HGCE Justice (not the Infinite Justice, just the regular one) and an HGCE Providence. Then I saw that it's the RG Freedom and Justice and the 20-year-old Providence HG and was very confused. Both the Justice and Providence seem way overdue for an HGCE revive.

Ah well, I'm sure they'll get around to it eventually.

I'm still sitting on an MG Freedom and Justice I haven't put together yet. And speaking of which - in case I ever get around to them, I picked up the replacement hip parts already for those two, but depending on how the builds go for me I might get a couple others. Anyone know if the MG Providence and Strike ver. RM use the same hip joint (and thus might also need replacements)?

The Remaster MG Strike definitely doesn’t use the hips. The Providence does use the same hips, though.

At this point I wouldn't put past bandai to make all the GAT-X machine HGCE kits exclusives anyway.

Ok, it's 20-odd years since I was building Wing kits so I decided to dip a toe back in to see what's what now that I've "finished" various other collections...... IMG_20240117_162535.jpg IMG_20240113_181632.jpg

......let's see how badly the build-muscles have atrophied.

Your muscle memory will come back to you in time.

It's f***ing cold outside, I'm building inside until it's time to feed the Moobile Sweeties.

    20240117_124421.jpg

Cockpit bloc is installed but this is where the manual says "Build and attach the arms before installing the chest cover." Which kind of makes sense with the shoulder covers to deal with, but okay...

    20240117_124440.jpg

So I started clipping and sorting the parts for a set of arms. Fortunately I only need to build one set while the other remains paraplegic until I build the Powered arms.

I'm also going to paint the hands again. Looking over the set I initially started when working on Blue Frame, they just looked awful and the paint had caked.
    Go figure.

The Legioss is pretty much impossible to paint and build if you don't want the paint to scratch when transforming it.

Also, you end up with a gap in the top fuselage unless you lengthen a certain part, IIRC.

This is a VERY enjoyable build, especially after the old MG Unicorn. Lots of smooth fitting and clicking connections. I even feel like the dull gold plastic kind of works? It helps the plated and painted golds pop. I thought I would hate it but it somehow works in person as every shade catches light differently. Also loving how you get to enjoy the inner frame first without armour.

Hands are primed. I always liked the Astrays' colored knuckles but I used to hate painting things white. That has since changed over the years.

    20240117_235407.jpg

The articulated hands will also get painted correctly.

Shoulder pauldrons for the normal Red are mostly built, I just need to paint portions of the armor.

    20240117_212349.jpg

The open vented backs are what panel line accent was made for. Back when I built the Master Grade Red Frame, I only had a rapidoliner.

I wanted to finish the torsos but with the matter of attaching the arms first, I figured I go ahead and do it. I can attach the armor parts just as easily if they were detached.

    20240117_192908.jpg

It has to be done this way so the free floating shoulder parts are braced in place behind the chest cover.

For the Powered Red, I did some research and looked at a few YouTube reviews on how the Powered arms are supposed to connect to the Real Grade since the Weapon Girl's instructions don't show it.
Reading through the assembly steps for the Powered arms, I saw what I can do.

    20240117_214146.jpg

Parts A22 and A23 from the Future Model runners are the hinged posts for the Powered arms, and fit to the shoulder joint just like the original arms. I will still need to detail and set the original shoulder covers in place before assembling and attaching the full arms package.

    Thanks for the response guys.
Yeah, Seed is franchise's famous series outside UC.

But that being said, I noticed too that even in Gundam Universe line, they finished releasing primary Gundam Wing suits (the first 5 gundam suits, leo, tallgeese 1 and 2) than Seed's where it only has Strike (minus the aile strike pack), Freedom and Strike Freedom.

I wonder despite Seed's popularity, Bandai is giving more love to Gundam Wing more. I mean no offense to Gundam Wing. I grew up with Wing. But I felt the popularity of Seed is really strong since 2002 despite the mixed reactions towards Seed Destiny.

Gundam's popularity in the west was winding down hardcore by the time SEED was airing. There was much less marketing for the kits and figures in light of how G Gundam absolutely killed the market, also IIRC the show was heavily censored as it was post 9/11. Meanwhile Gundam Wing is remembered a lot more fondly as the first series to air over here in a major capacity, and Gundam Universe being a very western oriented line obviously played heavily to the nostalgia for that series as a result and... well I guess it worked because that line is still going despite it's flaws...

Dammit! Really Bandai? You're refusing to give us an updated kit after a quarter century... You're CLEARLY refusing to do anything with Stardust Memory....

Yet they just reprinted the HGUC Dendrobium for the first time in years.

Wouldn't be surprised if it does get canceled but according to Gundamit, it's still happening.

Well, if you want some 1/144 scale Stardust memory stuffs the Robot Spirits line do offer a lot of those in recent years, and while they aren't model kits per se it's better than nothing:

    IMG_20231230_094058.jpg

Heck, I even collected some of them!
