Just 2 extra weapons/attachments for Epyon IIRC.

"Sturm Un Drang." it's basically additional sub wings that attach to its arms with a power supply running to its massive beam saber.

It's one of the upgrades in the "Glory of the Losers" manga.

The P.Bandai master grade kit just came out.

I keep going astray on this Astray project of mine but this is closer to the current phase. I washed and sorted the MG flight unit and wanted to compare it with the Future Model unit for the RG. Then somehow ended up using my free time today and worked on the Weapon Girl portion of that kit.

    20240112_135341.jpg

I last left off on this back in ... 2019. Yeah she's getting built along with the Red Frames.

The last thing I did for her was de-lewd the body, by painting the skintone plastic in red.

Anyway the forearms are assembled and in progress for paint.

    20240112_133818.jpg

The manual is slightly confusing because it illustrates both forearms are built at the same time, but they don't specify which is the right arm or left. There's a subtle curve on the inside of the arm and a small panel line on the outside of the wrist cuff.

The legs are mostly built. I had the hard time of trying to squeeze th parts together to cement and sand out the seams.

    20240112_141546.jpg

I had to swap between binder clips and four inch c-clamps to close some gaps in the toes and lower legs.

    20240112_143651.jpg

There are two other optional sets of forearms and legs below the thigh in skintone or tights, but I'm keeping strictly to her Astray armor.

    20240112_174141.jpg

There are bands that are supposed to sandwich in the thighs and biceps but I have them primed for painting red and white.

    20240112_130847.jpg

Oh yeah... and what I went looking for that got me started on this, the flight units are completely different.

Long box for such a small package. The Scopedog this goes with is slated for delivery sometime in the next week.

Started the Mk.V the night Ingot it at the store's build night. So I decided to just finish it. Always feels good getting more Gundam Sentinel stuff.

The MkV deserves its own base like the EX-S, and you need the Deep Striker.

Oh no worries on Deep Striker. Already got it, and a Zeta Plus C1. The store I was at didn't have any action bases and we just had a winter blizzard...but I do intend to stock up on more ABs soon!

Cool, I've look at these before just never thought of getting one yet. I'll see what I like of Bandai's first and maybe try a Wave kit.

    Real Grade leg days continue!

    20240113_220050.jpg

I've finished painting the leg panels, still need to patch up the knee guards and bands behind the knees.

    20240113_222112.jpg

Ankle guards got a second coat, and the bands are almost accent ready. I suspended them on some folded poster tape so it would be easier to hold them all at once.

    20240114_001708.jpg

Accented the leg parts and attached the moving thigh armor and knee armor.

    20240114_001605.jpg

Letting the accent dry overnight and will complete the legs next session.

Strum Un Drang is still one of the oddest pieces of GOL upgrades lore-wise. The entire reason Epyon has the wired beam sword was to allow the blade’s output to be adjusted to massive lengths as opposed to the fixed output of normal beam sabers. Having an upgrade unit that specifically facilitates that gimmick calls into question the purpose of the wired sword the Epyon had to start with.

More than most of the add-ons it feels like it exists just to give the Epyon something to P-Bandai.

The hobby shop nearest to me has another RG Red Frame in. I'm waiting to see if I find one of the 1/100 kits in Tokyo this fall, but if I can't I might build this kit. I don't think I can manage painting this elaborate though.

You can't go wrong with the Astray in any scale, just find the one you want to build and go for it. Hope you find what you're looking for.

The legs are mostly done, I need to repaint the smaller segments of the knee guards and finish the knee bands.

    20240114_122104.jpg

I needed to disconnect the feet to fit the ankle guards on since I put the armor on the legs first.

    20240114_130631.jpg

Flip one over to see how the painted vents line up.

    20240114_130857.jpg

While doing the touch ups on the paint, I used the rest of what was in the pan on the shield and accented it.

    20240114_130425.jpg

Let dry and used a q tip to buff out the spillage. I need to patch up those rough spots.

While I wait to finish the legs, I can start the next phase of the torsos and waists.

    20240114_135458.jpg

Some parts I had already prepared back when I opened the first Red Frame. Some needed to be stripped to start over again.
