Tool grade acetone, that's what I use to clean my large compressor paint sprayer when using Rustoleum tractor grade enamels.

Thanks for the advice! Guess I’ll have to grab some of that before my next project. :D

I might be interested in some upgrade kits for my 00 mgs... Is there any I should look out for that aren't resin?

I usually only buy one kit at a time but I had some holiday money burning a hole in my pocket and an opportunity to stop by Gundam Planet while I was in the NYC area.

I build pretty slow so this will probably last me most of the year :lol

Also curious about skylanderformers question since I’m building some OO MG kits as well.

Still waiting for a MG Doven Wolf/Silver Bullet out of that Mark V.

Who's ass do I gotta eat for these untapped MG releases? That perfect IBO Gundam Frame has been used once. ONCE.

Would that be OK for a hobby grade Airbrush? or is there some aspect about them that's too delicate? (never owned or used an Airbrush)

In my experience it's done fine. Metal body, some plastic, and rubber gaskets have been okay after I've cleaned them with acetone and mineral spirits immediately after I used the big can sprayer and my airbrush.

I wouldn't soak model parts in it like I do with Super Clean degreaser.

No progress on anything today due to farm work, but I did pull and sort through the standalone MG Astray flight unit.

    20240111_223047.jpg

I figured I would build it as a supplemental aside project for my original MG Red Frame which I built back in 2012 (refined in 2014).

    IMG_20141210_182907_656.jpg

    Old pictures, circa 2014.

I initially built the MG Kai, bought the P.Bandai original Red Frame and pulled only the parts I needed for the backpack, rifle, shield, sabers, and Gerbera Straight.

    20150904_203237.jpg

There's also the BTF Caletvwlch set which I combined with everything to make the "Red Dragon Kai."

I plan to build the P.B Red Dragon too at some point between the Real Grades and HiRM, and paint it differently than my first Red Frame.

So i went ahead and grabbed the last 1/15 IMAI VR-052F available from WISE GUYS HOBBIES.

    this was my Second-Ever Mecha Model, somewhere around 1992~1993, IIRC. i had to have been around 11 or 12 at the time;

    While i was about it, i also grabbed the 1/48 VARIABLE TYPE AFC-01H while they still had stock remaining. Happy Birthday to Me;

"Sturm Un Drang." it's basically additional sub wings that attach to its arms with a power supply running to its massive beam saber.

It's one of the upgrades in the "Glory of the Losers" manga.

The P.Bandai master grade kit just came out.

I keep going astray on this Astray project of mine but this is closer to the current phase. I washed and sorted the MG flight unit and wanted to compare it with the Future Model unit for the RG. Then somehow ended up using my free time today and worked on the Weapon Girl portion of that kit.

    20240112_135341.jpg

I last left off on this back in ... 2019. Yeah she's getting built along with the Red Frames.

The last thing I did for her was de-lewd the body, by painting the skintone plastic in red.

Anyway the forearms are assembled and in progress for paint.

    20240112_133818.jpg

The manual is slightly confusing because it illustrates both forearms are built at the same time, but they don't specify which is the right arm or left. There's a subtle curve on the inside of the arm and a small panel line on the outside of the wrist cuff.

The legs are mostly built. I had the hard time of trying to squeeze th parts together to cement and sand out the seams.

    20240112_141546.jpg

I had to swap between binder clips and four inch c-clamps to close some gaps in the toes and lower legs.

    20240112_143651.jpg

There are two other optional sets of forearms and legs below the thigh in skintone or tights, but I'm keeping strictly to her Astray armor.

    20240112_174141.jpg

There are bands that are supposed to sandwich in the thighs and biceps but I have them primed for painting red and white.

    20240112_130847.jpg

Oh yeah... and what I went looking for that got me started on this, the flight units are completely different.
