It's this: Mazinger Z: Infinity Integrate Model Mazinger Z Bust Long sold out now, but a cool product. Mine is from a gachapon, hence the colors. It comes in 3 capsules with no instructions, one making the skeleton, one making the Pilder, and one making the outer armor - It is then up to you to figure out how all the pieces fit together to make the complete bust.
Neat. Too bad I didn't get one myself. - "I'm no stranger to repetition" x 24. Light gray treatment is done for now. Next, the little fin bits at the hinge points. Edit: these thingies. Edit again: No need for clips when everything fits on one tongue blade with a piece of tape to hold them. Meanwhile, USA Gundam Store posted a one day sale on third party kits for 25% off with the coupon code "3rdp" so I pulled the trigger on the EffectWing Hyper Mega Bazooka Launcher for the Nu Gundam. Hyper Mega Launcher For RG Nu Gundam 1/144 This one comes with an alternate face for the kit to give it the longer face like the MG Version Ka model.
Thank you for reminding me - ended up just using the code to knock $20 of the price of Infinite Dimension 1/100 Genesis and got it for $80 shipped. For something that starts at retail for $84, a slight discount and free shipping after taxes ain't too shabby.
Primed. Oh yeah, and there are the 'advanced joint' components also getting the silver treatment for the nozzle plates. Silver painted, hard to tell in this picture but the results will show when they're assembled. Sampling for spits and giggles, panel line accent on the white and gray plates.
Not sure if this belongs here or the Soul of Chogokin thread But I picked up the SoC Gundam Aerial the other day (was traveling / went to Gundam Planet in NJ). Sweet figure. Light up eyes. Metal frame. All the shield bits can be reconfigured into the shield, armor, bigger gun, etc… the only thing that sucks is some limits on the upper thighs because of skirts on the waist and no stickers or lights for the red float chest parts (the model kit has a swapppable part, at least). Still really fn sweet and MG scale (1/100)
Random question for y'all: What do you do with built kits that you no longer want? Is there a market for them or do you just toss them?
There's a small market for them, usually through people looking for parts and custom fodder. People usually sell them in lots for heavily depreciated value.
Like @mx-01 archon says, there's always a market for a spare parts. From observing a friend's experience, he got over a dozen or more kits through a yard sale for a steal. Most of them were built but in poor condition. - Tonight's experiment; "pour a little of everything in a blender and see what spills out." Getting a head start on some bits for later: the rear skirts from the HWS armor, verniers for the backpack and feet, and the nozzles molded onto the bare forearms. I want to apply some yellow paint matching the plastic color but I didn't have something mixed that shade. The Nu's color chart calls for orange-yellow, and I used a color I saved from an earlier build as my starting base. A little Panama Bluff toned it down but made it a little too pale. To fix it I injected some fluorescent red into the mix. Pan mixing by the droplet gives me an idea as to how much to not use so I don't end up wasting too much paint. Once I get that figured out, I can use pipettes to add color to the paint in a jar. Despite how miniscule the surface area is on this kit, the volume in the jar has long term applications in the backlog. The results are a close enough match. A single coat applied and dried looks fine. I'll give these parts a second coat as I come to their steps in assembly. A closer look on the thrusters from the feet, with the silver paint applied on the nozzle plate.
Just the beam rifle and shield left to build and the water transfers to apply, then big boy Grandaddy will be done.
the wings, knees, the dorito shapes pieces on the shoulder armor, and two pieces on the back of the hip skirt cannons.
I see it now. Still, awesome work and how you pulled it off. - Not much time in the shop tonight, but a little work accomplished. The next layer of parts for the Fin Funnels are cleaned and ready for detailing. And for spits and giggles, I dug the Advance of Zeta kits out of deep storage to compare the plastic with my new yellow mix. This will work just fine when I eventually get around to it.
Incredible work, as always. Looks so much better without the curry gold of the original. Newtype emailed me saying they finally got MGEX SF stock, but when I clicked the link in a few minutes it was already sold out :/ Guess I'll wait til 2024.
A little paint work on the Funnel center sections. Gunship gray on the spaces between the nozzle plates and hinges. The mail came in this afternoon earlier than I expected. Same box as the Hi-Nu version but the colors are for the regular Nu. The reason for getting this is the new face with the longer jawline.
Double Post Punch!! Had to run an errand, wound up at Target. They have updated their inventory at the Valdosta store. Didn't check all the prices but: New Spec Figure-rise Goku High Grade Aerial Real Grade Wing at $38.99 Entry Grade Nu ... the only thing I've seen there for a month was the pile of Mando Junior and Boba Fett.
