Oh fuck. See you at the blood bath, guys.
Man, looking great so far but I am out of action for the moment. Frikking hate being sick....
Robot Damashii RX-78-2 Ver. ANIME side-by-side with the HG RX-78-2 Beyond Global, the only 1/144 scale RX-78-2 I currently had right now...
Having these two together, the first thing that I notice is strangely enough, how bizarre the proportions on the Beyond Global really was (With the squished-looking head, and the wide feet that's winder than the lower legs)
Feel better and rest, build more later. It looks good far.
See you there..
NEMO, let's go!!
*I know, not there yet but just saying...*
I'm attaching panels and armor now and working on the smaller details to add in. I'm seeing that the static standing position with its arms and shoulders folded flat and down to the sides gets in the way of the curvature and proportions.
Then I started flexing it into Pure 80s Chonk mode.
Yeah. You just don't get to appreciate how big this kit is until you get past the skeletal frame.
I'll be finishing the legs before I armor up any further.
Holy shit that looks good. MINE.
Bring on the Hydra!!
I lost track of time. I got caught up in detailing the leg thrusters and installing the white stripes on the sides of the legs.
I spent more time however backtracking ... my first mistake was setting the thruster units on first and disconnected the parts they mount to thinking I could orient which modules I wanted on either leg, and *then* went to install the stripes...
...but I couldn't reconnect the thrusters. So I had to take those back off, set the thruster hinges on *before* the stripes. and then mount the thrusters...
...Oy, I did that to myself.
Also the front skirt. The legs still need their joint covers and shin armor attached.
I want to paint the underside of the shin covers so I have a gray panel line where the parts meet around them.
Dayum, that looks even more amazing than I was expecting. They really went ham on the detailing compared to the lineart/old kit.
Those handguns/rear thruster binders are new. The old kit definitely couldn't do that.
New kit announcements, sweet! I could use some more of that
i had both the original G-UNIT L.O. BOOSTER and AESCULAPIUS 1/144 kits
back in my pre-internet, settle-for-anything-i-can-find wild west days of the late-90's.
both're long gone now, and, honestly, i don't personally miss either of 'em one bit, YMMV of course...
So...just realized that the Aesculapius is going to cost about $45 after that annoying flat-rate shipping ($35 + $10). With that in mind, I might skip this run entirely. They'll likely run it again down the road fairly soon, just like the Geminass 01/02 and as cool as the thing is, I can not spend that kind of money right now. Things are ramping up with my trains, my backlog is pretty packed as is (I haven't touched Sahalenthropus or the Mk. V, and all that other shit from the Expo is still coming eventually...), and I don't get a raise until next January.
EDIT: Oh, and there's also the FAT $200 for Haslab Star Saber, too!
IIRC, those original G-UNIT kits i had were around $15~$20 or so each, back in the day...
Built another Zaku today.
Still digging the style. Had a hell of a time with the decals this time. They just refused to stay on for a long time.
Here are the power rangers together.
I think thats enough Zakus for now. I know there is one more, but I am happy with this lot.
Looks fantastic but a bit unstable.
So far Command Quanta is still my favorite of the bunch.
The Destiny Zakus are great. Can't wait to get the Concert Zaku. Also I need to get the Gunner Zaku Warrior when it pops back up.
Started the morning with a few more points of where I left off last night before going out to replace a starter motor on a UTV.
My Gundammarker lines around the bolts on those thruster pods turned out a little too broad... I can fix it later.
*Maybe I should repaint that trench in dark gray after all.
One more look at it from head to heel.
All that's left for the legs are the joint covers. I'll work on the arms next.
Sorta checks out, though. The new versions have at least twice the parts of those old, crappy kits...
Now, imagine this attention to detail and parts count for the HYDRA!
Honestly never heard of this unit before but it looks so cool.
It's so tempting but I just bought the Calamity and that was one pricey kit.
Man, sometimes I hate being at the tail end of a Gunpla project; doing last bits of touch-ups, or re-doing parts that I screwed up.
Setting up the airbrush and spray-booth for less than 5 min of actual airbrushing feels super-stupid; I'm spending more time setting up and clearing/cleaning up than actual airbrushing.
... Though to be fair, in the past this wasn't an issue; it's only been like this in the last ~20 months (since the beginning of the pandemic); as my hobby/building-desk has had to double up and be my working-from-home desk as well.
@anubis20 EXPLAIN YOURSELF.
Why have you decided to possess this man's will and make him airbrush everything?
