I cashed out my latest delivery coupon for it from USA Gundam Store... although their preorder discount price of $189.99 -10% + sales tax + $9.99 shipping = what's a discount?
I just realized too that HiRM Powered Red is using the hand parts from the Perfect Grade Astray.
Huh, so they are.
Well, I assume those multi-gate assemblies are somewhat more expensive to develop, so they might as well get their mileage out of them where they can. Pretty sure it's the same tooling as the PG Strike's, also reused for the Unicorn/Banshee. Of course done up in the Astray's red/white palette instead of basic grey.
Although it looks like they've managed to modify the tooling slightly, as looking at the Unicorn's runners, they were able to gate off the Armor Schneiders and Strike's eye piece, that they weren't able to do on the original PG Astray release.
I was surprised too but the more I looked at the HiRM, I realized what they were. The lineart, the Metal Build figure, and even the Future Model expansion for the Real Grade had white plated knuckles.
I suppose they'll be using the reduced runner version, as opposed to using the original version with the Strike parts it won't need.
Arm Day for the Core Mk2 Grindathon, out of the sorting trays and into a pile of parts.
Shoulders first, elbows, and then forearms. Having two Core Mk2s from a duplicate Uraven only looks insane from this angle.
I've gotten better at not accidentally mixing the G3 parts with the regular Mk2 by handling those parts last and not getting their sorted piles mixed up.
I have since come back over them with panel accent to do my detailing on them, with paint to follow as soon as the bodies are completed.
Beam rifles are next. I had one already built from my first attempt at the Uraven armor.
After taking the following picture, I hit them with some panel line accent to fill in the lines once the cement had dried. I will paint the sight pieces when I start painting the Gundams' eyes.
Knocking out the hands seemed easy at first, but then I forgot how many sets of hands came from some of the Planet System Weapon Units, and how many came with the Titans and G3 color types, as well as my duplicate Uraven.
Letting panel accent dry for the night and I'll clean them up.
Got this giant package today!
I honestly didn't expect to get the Nightingale this year with supply issue and scalpers.
Guess local scalpers learned their lesson not to horde plastic toys that take up lots of space and will get reissue regularly.
Also picked up the Xi to get free shipping. Was waiting for a decent sale or later form but I am worried that bigger kit will not get restocked locally.
Not as excellent as the original Barzam but still far above your average HGUC kits.
not my kid nor my nightingale
Well, if it does wind up coming with the Armor Schneiders, then the Powered Red can do the most exaggerated looking rendition of the Crocodile Dundee bit all by its lonesome.
Two more to add to the collection.
I’ve been working on a display in my cave (aka walk in closet). Hopefully I’ll be able to show you fine folks soon.
Started the day with piles of torso parts and the backpacks.
I hate it when broad nubs are on the curve ends of the beam sabers, right next to the protruded edge of the handle. I managed to clean the areas up without gouging or squaring them off.
Of course, that raised lines on the saber docks the manual clearly says 'Do not cut' were shaved off at the start.
Oh well, it's not like they're going to be seen anyway once these Cores are shrouded in Planet Armor.
Now for the torsos themselves.
In hindsight, I should have put some dark paint behind the clear parts on the Mk2 and G3 chests because the gray and white plastic shows underneath. I didn't cement them in place, so I can try to pick these parts off and do it later.
I didn't set the collar plates yet because I want to paint the recessed areas on them.
Now for the Defenser shields, and where I can start preparing to paint.
I applied some panel line accent to each subassembly as I went along. I will need to paint the camera sensors, but that can be done in due time.
What I need to do at this point is mix my pan batch of paint for the Titans Core. I used a couple of my bottled violet gray and purple mixes and added the necessary gray to get a close enough match. My paint went on bright, but dried a little darker.
What you don't see yet is I painted the details on the head with it too. This about takes care of this kit and I still have enough paint saved in the pan (under a seal of packaging tape) in case I need to patch any mistakes and finish the head.
i got that same MG RX-0 at my local HOBBY TOWN USA about three/four years back.
more recently, -maybe a year/year-and-a-half ago- i upgraded to the PG;
I just about finished painting the Core Gundam mk2 pair. I still need to clean up my lines on the shields but since it's a bottled mix, I don't need to rush like I did on the Titans Core.
All that's left of this part of the grind is the G3, and then the optics.
I am fully expecting my *massive* Expo order (except the McDonalds Ambassador Gundam, that's November) to arrive today. Along with Crossover Gigawatt because Pulse ended up shipping just in time for that guy to make it on the same day (I got notified the package was on the truck an hour away from me and would ship next business day)
I thought the Expo orders were shipping next month? My expected shipping emails said October 19-23.
Ah, you're right, I misread the email.
