Long farm day under the sun, so I don't have much of anything new to show tonight. I pretty much just went over the joint parts I had already started painting with the green glow wash before I get to assembling the legs.

The vernier nozzles for the feet, it's easier to keep them on the runner while painting the inner plates so I don't drop and lose them. As always, I'll clean up the wicking stains as I go along.

Gundam Mk. III, it's one of the more obscure designs from a side manga and it really only recently got a kit (online exclusive no less) aside from the rare RE/100 version.

Meeplemart finally got the RG Wing in. Was going to wait until more stuff arrived but seems most of the new things sell out quick, so to pad out the box I grabbed the two Victory SD World guys and that one IBO set with the Graze Ground Type feet and rifles for the Gusion Rebake. I need the feet for a custom and Gusion can always use more guns I guess. :lol

There's a lot of good shit coming. Aside from obvious things like the MG Virtue, FRS is doing more Digimon and Kamen Riders, including the first bike which is the Tri-chaser. (Guess I need FRS Kuuga now) There's also a FRS Batman model coming, and Meeplemart is branching out to carry Zoids and Medabots, two model lines I've been sorely tempted to sample for years now. It's awesome.

This is what Clear kits are made for.

Building my way up the Nu's frame from heel strut to v-crest. Feet First and painting the major components as I come to them. I've got the knees and hips set on sticks right now. The ankles are loosely fitted to the feet just to line things up.

    20210712_184150.jpg

I primed those raised ridges on the heel to paint them silver. same for the bolts down the side of the foot. the gapped panel lines are primed for my green mix, I see how the wash glows when it's over painted and primed areas as seen in the hips.

    20210712_184208.jpg

That's what happens when the paint wash is made with a Clear Green for the sake of the clear armor.

Unf. Good choices all there. WZC ver. Ka in particular is a gorgeous kit.

Thank you. RG WZC was my second kit. Looking at it online I could never pull the trigger. Seeing it in person I couldn’t resist. I was only planning on getting some HGs and maybe an RG.

As far as RGs go there's lots of good choices. Starting with the one I completed yesterday, the regular ol' Wing Gundam wouldn't be a bad place to start. Absolutely fantastic kit.

Being stuck at home the last 1.5 years due to the pandemic has been good for my Gunpla and other personal projects. :)
I've completed 12 kits in the last 5 years, and 9 of them have been after the start of COVID-19.

    ---===---

Anyhow, finally time to start snap-fitting the MG F90II. Loved this design as a kid; my brother had the old 1/100 L-Type.
Doing this as a group-build with an IRL buddy of mine (who does post on TFW, but I have no idea what his username here is), who's doing the F90.
I haven't done a group-build since... 2005 when I still lived with my parents and my brother and I built a 1/60 Freedom while he built a 1/100 Justice.

The I-Type Mission Pack will be snap-fit, but won't be completed as part of the group-build, so it'll be finished up at a later date.
No mods planned for the base F90II, just a custom color scheme.

This may sound like a silly question, but is there such thing as "mold degradation" with Gunpla?

I'm asking this is because I actually went and have a quick snap-build of the HG Barbatos (it's of the latest reprint batches) and... damn, the OOB build is loose as hell and can barely hold a pose. I used to have some HG IBO kits that used the Gundam frame and while they do get looser over time, I don't remember any of them to be so floppy, loose just as OOB builds? I wish that it wasn't a sign that the HG IBO Gundam frames start to suffer from mold degradation, but rather an isolated QC issue with my copy.

I've seen polycaps kind of degrade over time, but this is over decades on 30+ year old kits (they were also "played with", so that probably doesn't help either).
I've never heard of this happening on recent things, and IBO stuff is still relatively recent.

Yeah there is. My example without pictures is the original MG GP01. I bought the US release version of it somewhere between 2006 and 2010 and abandoned it since the parts were warped, weak, and covered in mold flashing. and it literally had googly eyes because the eye piece was malformed.

Nice. I didn't realize where you got the color inspiration because... ummmm... yeah. :)
Really makes me want to get an Entry Grade just for kicks.

    One recommendation from me:
For the additional holes that you drilled in for detailing. Try to plan it out in pencil on some masking table first, then transfer the masking tape to the parts in question, and drill through the masking tape. It'll get you more evenly spaced holes when drilling.

Until you said what it was, I thought it was a Red Warrior inspired color.

.... Note to self. never research the *inspiration* for this kit ever again.. and burn my browser history... and smash my tablet with a rock, but first.. I'm going to drink a gallon of eye bleach.

    -
Aside project for the day!! I've had one of Bandai's System Base 001 sitting in the backlog for nearly four years now but never felt committed to putting it together until now.

    20210713_125544.jpg

I like having the 1:60 scale maintenance cage on the bench for big projects, but it's a bit too cavernous for 1:100 and 1:144 scale kits. So I snapped this together and cranked up the airbrush to hit it with my "Metal Frame" mix of gunship gray and gunmetal.

    20210713_143958.jpg

I'm only assembling it in the fully widened position and not using the sidebar weapon racks.

    20210713_143958.jpg

Letting this dry for a while, and going to feed cows, before I reassemble it.
