that is the 2005 MSZ-006 MG ver.2.0. indeed, the ankles are terribly stiff, one of it's most significant faults.

YMMV, of course, but even though they are now 20-year-old designs,
IMO, MG MSZ-006 variants don't get any better than the MG MSZ-006A1/C1...

The emails say "Shipment Begins 9-22-2020" but my order status page now shows "Preparing to Ship."

... I completely forgot the shipping window was approaching.

    What did I miss?

I was too busy remembering there's lineart for the original ZZ that shows those long wing panels on the arm can fold back 160 degrees so I can have an unobstructed grasp on the Beam Rifle and sabers.

The cleanup grind for the Missile racks!

    20200922_190423.jpg

This actually worked much faster than expected and without wrecking the painted sensors. Also it turns out I didn't have to shadow paint the spaces between each missiles.

    20200922_214831.jpg

Now for the racks themselves, some accent on the edges and everything cleaned up.

    20200922_222936.jpg

Now for the main body of the backpack they fit into, with some detail painting accomplished.

    20200922_232721.jpg

And now it's back to working on the upper shell. I still need to touch up the interior lattice details but I finished recoating the outsides.

Aaand I finished my very first diorama. Kind of handy on space usage that it's mounted in a shadowbox, now I can just hang it on the wall.:D  IMG_20200923_005604_4.jpg

@Tasuke , thank you for telling us about how isopropyl alcohol works as a thinner for Tamiya acrylics.

Still have three orders listed as "Preparing to Ship."

Neanwhile based on this week's sample reviews of the HWS, O/U Packs, and Assault Booster units, I just realized whatever I'm getting that ships out by November will be entirely Expansion kits.

Small update on my work; I'm mainly doing these while I'm on conference calls (that I don't have to really participate in). :)

Forearm fins and front-skirt add-ons have had their basic bevels ground in; will probably need to do a bit of touch-up with some putty once I start priming as I had a few minor slip-ups of the file and nicked and scratched some edges.
The front-skirt parts also just peg in with a 3mm rod; this'll make parts-separation for painting a whole lot easier later.

Still working on the shoulder-armor add-ons; my original plan didn't work out so well (trying to make thick flat styrene sheets contour a rounded shoulder-pad is tough), so I'm trying something else.
Still haven't started to work on the knee-armor.

That’s a cool Gundam, nice work so far! The last one I built was a PG RX-178, with no decals or wash.

Finally got the emails saying all three of my expected orders - two expo and one regular P-Bandai - just got shipped so they'll probably arrive next week.

I forewarned my parents that things I'd planned months ago were coming to fruition and we would be getting a lot of packages...I don't think they believed me.

Three Shipment Notices for me today too... Let the TOWERS OF BACKLOG BEGIN!!

    -
The missile pods are set! I had to toggle the hinge component a few times to get it to seat properly in the closed position. if you press it in too much, they stick open.

That sounds like an intentional design choice if you want to keep them open.

Thanks, I try. My father was the surgeon though.

It's not the Sentinel version, but it is Katoki's work!

*mind the foggy glare from dust and smudges thanks to working on the hayfield and cow noses. *I took this picture before my prior post**

    20200923_194004.jpg

I am really looking forward to doing this same amount of work on the true FAZZ. I made a note to paint the same missile pod covers from that kit in white to go with the rest of the parts I lined up to paint that way.

It can wait though, because I have another plan to derail after I finish with Enhanced ZZ.

More like a positioning issue, once I adjusted the parts, they line up and close much better.

    20200923_234607.jpg

One intentional design feature I found out when I got the long substructure of the packs cemented together. I accidentally disarticulated one of the missile pods. There's a track they mount on I thought it was for widening how much they open, and I realized it's supposed to be that way for swapping out the original ZZ's parts to install the Enhanced Expansion set if you bought the original ZZ ver. Ka, but also for the long term chances of mounting the Full Armor's Mega Beam BFG gimbal.

I still think that's an inevitable conclusion at some point, either a full kit version of a proper (Anime) Full Armor ZZ, or another expansion pack.
