@Tasuke well if you’re taking a break for a while you’ve got to share pictures of the whole collection!

@areaseven I’m still bummed they didn’t call it the Jive Gundam. Kit looks nice though.

Only shame about this is what we're not getting Core Gundam in RX-78-1, RX-78-4, RX-78-5, and Casval Gundam colors.

Which version of the Banshee catches your eye? Because that's kinda the kicker to determining whether it's good or bad or not. Pretty sure the particular one you have pictured there is the Robot Damashii, a non-transforming action figure of that particular design. No personal experience with that one, but it should be pretty solid.

As for the second question, it depends on the series and continuity. What usually tends to happen is that the Gundams will be developed by the "good" side, but occasionally one will get stolen and used by the "bad" side (I put good/bad in quotes because as a war drama, Gundam frequently displays shades of grey and sometimes that delineation doesn't encompass the whole story). Overwhelmingly, though, they're heroic. They're always the hero unit in the series with only one Gundam.

A few series buck that trend. G Gundam, and the various Build series are tournament fighters, so most Gundams can go from antagonistic to allies at the drop of a hat depending on the circumstances of the match. In those cases though, the units deemed villainous tend to be very obviously so - dark colours, spikes all over, freakishly inhuman anatomy, red eyes, etc. In Gundam SEED and its sequel Destiny, the GUNDAM are mostly antagonistic because security in that universe apparently sucks donkey nuts, and all of the units except for the singular designated hero units get stolen by the bad guys. Circumstances eventually evolve to muddy the distinctions, but the count goes heavily towards the antagonists in that universe. In Iron Blooded Orphans and Gundam X, the Gundams represent lost technology, scavenged by the current generation of humans, so it's a grab bag as to who controls them.

What I think that is, is the Gundam Universe figure. Banshee Gunpla kit reviews are everywhere from Dalong.net to Schizophonic9. But none of the main sample build blogs dabble in the Universe figures.

Everyone: The G40's thighs are an ugly travesty I can't believe they went with that kind of design.
    Me: They're perfect...

That's... all kinds of wrong, but so much engineering done right. XD

Got an interesting email this morning from New Gundam Central, "We are sending you Daban 8814's instruction manual as an E-file."

So now I know it's a full kit based on the Metal Build and not just the Powered Red parts, and I need to go around half the world to track it down.

I read that the G40 was produced in limited numbers and will be discontinued afterwards. Is this true? I haven't really been keeping up with it and didn't realize it was released already.

It looks all kinds of fun. If it's going to be limited, really tempted to order one now so I don't miss out.

Unrelated: I went to a Barnes & Noble today to pick up a few books for the kids and was kind of... cognitive dissonanced when I saw a pair of Gunpla displays. It's been a while since I've been in one so it was a surprise even though I knew some B&N carried them. They had a Penelope, MG Alex 2.0 and even a Gunner Zaku hot pink edition (Lunamaria's sweet ride) and I was really tempted to buy one of each. Any of you Macross fans? I had a proper deculture moment when I saw them.

I don't know anything about this but it's already sold out on the 3 major import shops I frequent and on hlj it says 'discontinued' as opposed to 'sold out' so it honestly raises the question.

Edit: Just checked USA Gundam and Gundam Planet and they're sold out as well

ROFL!! You are in the wrong genre.
I was tempted to pose my *** girls in the same poses but I know they just can't compete with G40's metal body here.

I only thought G40 was an travesty because the CG face looks so fugly.
So far, all the OOB I have seen are pretty decent.
Will get one at normal price and won't lose sleep if it gets discontinued, which I really doubt it.
It's Bandai and the mold cost is high.
Even if it doesn't get normal release, we will see G40 in Gundam Base or PB store sooner or later.

    Edit:
Remind me of this picture from the Web.
The most girly HGUC kit ever.

Bandai should use that designer to make Nobel Gundam 2.0 .
