Detailing tiny-ass vulcans with my shaky hamhands has always been a pain, so now I'm just gonna drill them out and replace them with METAL *guitar riff*.
    tinyvulcans.jpg
Had to go through Rakuten to get a hold of them -- everybody is out of stock and HQP has a ridiculous a production schedule as Daddy Bandai. And even then, the shop only had one of each size. So I bought them all lmao.

So, I was looking up reference pics for that EW Zero custom I want to make, and I can't find anyone who's attempted this project. Am I seriously the only one to consider redecoing the OVA Wing Zero into the TV colours? I think that'd look so cool.

Customizing the EZ-SR? A man of culture, I see.

I've got three to build the whole squad in the backlog. I just happened to have one of the boxes nearby since I stole parts from it previously and it was handy to show the itty bitty gun barrels. I'll do detailing work on them, but nothing huge. Right now I'm building a second transforming lion robot to take a break from involved gunpla work.

    Well, this was for science..

    20190930_005032.jpg

Yes. Pledge Floor Gloss and Food Coloring... and Val said I was a Mad Man!!! but I know I'm not the first one to think of this either..

Applied with a brush. it's thinner this way, but you can dip it.
Trick is adding enough food coloring to get the color sharpness right, and it still takes multiple coats to really fill in but so does the dipping technique to 'glass' windshields.. Even so, not as much or too thick to work with as Clear paint.
    --
EDIT!! I'll post pictures when this finishes, but I decided to dip some parts. much sharper results.

Following up.. here's a quick comparison, clear green paint versus colored Pledge dip.

    20190930_211313.jpg

Easiest way to compare is with similar unfinished builds, so I have the Narrative A Packs with the painted eyes, and Narrative C Packs for the Pledge dunk.

Simply submerge the part so it's coated and then whick the excess gloss off. Suspend it so it can dry and be sure to whick any additional excess coating before it pools..

    20190930_211327.jpg

The results are decent with one dip, but it looks even better on the second dunk. I even dipped theparts from RG Wing Zero to see how much it fills in what I had started earlier. *pics another time..

    20190930_212746.jpg

Let this dry for the night and I'll paint the black mask and see how both versions compare.

So back to work on the Rx78... finished the arms and torso, and am starting to paint the shoulder armor. Get those details handled before I apply the decals I want on them.

    20191001_001247.jpg

One minor annoyance is the beam sabers rest on weak posts, so now they're cemented in place permanently. Seeing how the RG kit comes with sabers for tabbing into the hand, I'm not sacrificing anything for the sake of stability.

    20190930_214352.jpg
I also applied a little touch of flat steel enamel to those bars over the top of the backpack.

Anyone know if the MG Strike ver.RM is compatible with older MG Striker packs?
Specifically asking because I have the MG IWSP just sitting around on its own, and I have an itch to get the MG Strike ver.RM...

As far as I know, the Strike RM's Launcher and Sword Expansion set are just the original Master Grade's packs using added polycaps as spacers to fit the new shoulders.

Stopped by the comics and hobby shop to pick up the long range armor set for Alto Blue, since I figured I'd try both flavors of armor.

    I like the results.
    20191001_200626.jpg

For 5 bucks, this armor set filled out the design much better with the matching colors. I left the stock mask plate on the get the most of that bright yellow visor, as the close combat obscures most of it and long range looks boring without any paint.

Cant wait to get Alto Yellow and make use of my now spare close combat armor.

For anyone who own both the HGCE Aile Strike Gundam and thee HGSEED Remaster Perfect Strike Gundam, is the Perfect Striker pack from the Perfect Strike fits the HGCE AIle Strike Gundam? I have a plan of build some kind of "Defender" Strike Gundam with the striker pack been a combination of both the Sword and Launcher striker pack, and I wonder if the parts from the old HGSEED Perfect Strike would fit on the HGCE AIle Strike Gundam.

Wrapping up the assembly for RG Rx-78 Version G35. A quick dab of clear green and clear red for the running lights on the shoulders..

    20191001_175401.jpg

Built the Core Fighter, it's a little flimsy but a nice little folding box with wings.

    20191001_214722.jpg

The canopy is blue tinted Pledge.

Painted Amuro, I've made a few small touch ups and accent washed him since this picture was taken..

    20191001_224540.jpg

I'll admit it wasn't my best work, but for what it's worth, completed. He was painted in layers, first the red stripes, followes by the gloves, boots, belt, and shoulders before coating him in a mix of white and lichtblau, and capping him off by painting his face and hair.
Completed the head and touched up the Copper details and added a few more.

    20191002_012149.jpg

I'll make some more improvements before applying the Shoulder decals from my bonus decal set from last year and its finishing clear coat.

    20191001_232014.jpg

And so... Gunpla #230, and my 8th Real Grade complete! After all is said and done, it's not as flimsy or fragile as I expected it to be, especially with the metallic Gloss injection. Which by the way makes it look Fantastic! I should definitely mix a fresh batch of my Trans-Am metallic paint recipe.

    20191002_012355.jpg

Standing next to its contemporary, Master Grade Rx-78-2 Version 3.0. Although similar in their emphasis on realistic panel and color separation, the two kits are not just different scaled copies of the same engineering.

Other little side note is the Version 3.0 has the Magnetic Coating joint covers compared to the traditional open types on the RG..

So, with that long overdue project out of the way, I can get back to work on the big red elephant on the desk. I'll apply the decals for both kits and Sazabi Version Ka at a later time..

You never cease to impress! The RG RX-78 was one of the first kits I ever got back when I started getting into Gunpla back around 2011ish. I ended up buying a second one earlier this year to see where my skills improved, and boy does it show. It'll be a while before I could even think of doing something as clean as your work :lol

forewent panel lining and stickering everything but the torso. sanded out and used markers to hide nub stresses the best I could. now, GN-001 Gundam Exia RG is completed.
    20191001_235254.jpg 20191001_235006.jpg 20191001_235037.jpg

originally wanted to display it against Barbatos 5.6th form, but I realized they would be blocking Strike Rouge and 007sword. now they are to the sides of those two kits.

Thanks! I look back on my older work all the time and keep trying to find ways to improve from one project to the next. This one was something I had started on months ago but had to step away from because I didn't want to rush through it and make mistakes. Especially when it comes to handling the RG frame and enamel paint on those joints.

It's one kit I wouldn't mind revisiting in another variation, I'm kind of kicking myself because I HAD the Real Grade G3 but I gifted it to a friend before I started it. Tempted to ask if he's still got it and wouldn't mind trading it back for something.
