Hmm that's interesting. I thought Ground and Ez8 would be very similar. Guess I'll have to build them to see. The packs are interchangeable between them right? I don't really care for the parachute that comes with the Ez8
The backpacks are the same and can be interchanged yes, but that's about the limit of similarity in the build. The parachute pack is actually kind of awful anyway, since they didn't include proper clips to hold the belt onto the shoulders, instead opting you to rely on seals of all things!
Main thing stopping me is I've got a pretty substantial backlog. But I've been drooling over that kit ever since it was revealed. The redesign work for the SEED Gundams they did is beyond marvelous, and he Buster is my second favourite Gundam of all time, behind the Exia. Also doesn't hurt that the SEED team is among the last batch of MG kits to have ABS inner frames. They've just not felt the same since. The only PS MGs to feel up to par are the Astrays, with the density of their mechanics and the buttery smoothness of the POM joints.
I've still got a half completed Buster in my backlog, it's my favorite of the first SEED Gundams before they went grandiose and I just love its box art. meantime, I finally have an update about my missing Unicorn! I contacted Image Anime and according to them the Gundam is in stock, but the LED set is in shipment limbo due to the massive holiday congestion and worker strike at the Long Beach Port. All things depending, it should be at most another 2 weeks before I hear anything.
Anyone have any insight as to when the PG Unicorn LED kits might hit the US retailers? Trying to hold out shipping an epic loot on BBTS getting in the LEDs for mine.
I think I may have answered that on the previous post. the site I ordered from said the LEDs were in a separate shipment from the Unicorn and they were stalled at the Long Beach shipyard due to holiday congestion and worker strikes.
Ah thanks, I overlooked that somehow lol. Well, good to know then that this loot will be held up just a little longer.
Man that bites. Seems like they are going on strike every month now. Hope things get resolved and everyone gets their stuff.
The unicorn seems overpriced at all US retailers. Even with the ¥6100 EMS charge i only paid about $180 for it. I paid less since i had a five item loot going on at HLJ.
Painted the frame for my Zaku. Went with a bunch of greys instead of the usual metallics. I figured i haven't done a finish like this in years, so why not.
Ok, don't know if someone has replied to you, but here is my opinion and experience. One careful with gundam markers, I'm not the biggest fan, I feel they bleed alot, so have like a thinner ready, just to clean up the excess marks. So I would do the gundam markers first then the overcoat just in case you mess up with the gundam markers. Testors are great for hand painting such as model masters. If you want to airbrush don't use model master they clog up the airbrush, use Tamiya or Mr. color (more expensive). Don't know about cutting mats.
Well, I craved in and bought the MG Build Strike Gundam because the design and the colours look so er, heroic and colourful! I'll look around for the Universe Booster...I'm thinking of immediately building the Star Build Strike as I like the design better. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm watching Build Fighters season 1! X)
So I picked up the Sengoku Astray today. And it's a pretty cool set, though for some reason I can't get the hand covers onto the angled holding hands.
happy new year. finally found some time and finished up the core fighter and the pilot.. after flat coated it, the core fighter doesnt transform anymore, some of the moving part got jammed, oh well its not like i'm going to put it in the gundam anyway. starting on the decalling of my PG Wing Zero. its actually much easier then i expected. although i panic abit when the white marks left by mr. mark setter appear.. but it goes away after applying mr. mark softer. since the decal is just the scaled version of mg wing zero decal, it take some interpretation to fit some of the decal in since the design isnt the same, because of the differ in design, i might able to skip some of the decal. this is good since it wont make my PG look like a scaled version of mg. after playing with water decal, i understand why people love it.
