Hah! Look at this ridiculous idiot.

Thought: you've got this fella, the purple velociraptor guy... but no translucent ptero fellow yet. Perhaps that's all the 'Energon Monster' is?

Yup, he has the common problem of his wrists oriented at the wrong angle to his elbows, though that does mean he's good at putting up his dukes. Good thing too, as the accessory he comes with is a spinny rotary blade. Fine if he wants to do some carpentry, not so much for fighting.

The platinum pugilist with the ferrous fists! He boxes like a turbofox, will make your spark go dark, smash your t-cog to ash! Ladies and gentlemen, in the green corner, weighing in at six metric tonnes, give it up for Buuuuuulkheeeeead!

That is super subtle and, I can't believe how much it balances out the colour palette. That is really tempting . . .

Let me just warn you, the grey paint on the head and the black paint on the shoulders is applied very heavily. The head in particular has many recesses that I had to use Q-tips and a toothbrush to reach beyond the usual paper towels and isopropyl alcohol, and due to the proximity of the bottoms of the eyebrows to the silver face paint, I ended up having to use toothpicks dipped in isopropyl alcohol to carefully scrape the paint off. Be precise and be prepared to spend a good chunk of time on it.

The good news is the silver battle damage comes off very easily.

I figured the helmet paint would be hell to remove but, I'm shocked the scorching/scoring comes off easily. Speaking of shocked . . .

The dark area (with the silver Autobot insignas) is painted? I figured they were done in an entirely different colour for strength and, I didn't give it much thought since SS86 Wreck-Gar's rims are molded in a colour that nothing else on the toy is.

That makes me want to try to leave the silver Autobot insignias along with a thin black outline around them (for clarity the entire Autobot insignia would look like they do from the factory, I'm not talking about trying to give them little yellow eyes) and then remove a similar pattern around that to expose the yellow like you did. The red Autobot insignias on the exposed plastic look nice though and match the ones on the legs. I'm shocked the red insignias didn't clash and look muddy like how red typically does when applied directly on yellows/oranges without any "background/outline". I guess the plastic just happened to be the right hue to pull it off.

The silver-Autobot-insignia-on-black is painted on the same yellow plastic as the rest of the shoulder. I think you'll have a very difficult time being consistent enough to preserve the insignia as you describe, not only because of how much scrubbing is involved to remove the black paint, but also because the silver insignia paint/tampo comes off very easily by comparison. In fact, you can remove the silver with alcohol and the black paint beneath it will look almost untouched.

It was more of a might as well try well I'm there type of deal. I forgot that the factory Autobot insignias on the shoulders are larger (honestly too large) as I had been trying to make my first copy stay together in alt mode and eventually gave up and did an exchange (wound up with a good copy) so I haven't paid attention to the factory robot deco for a while. I'll probably wind up trying it without any shoulder insignias since the headsculpt is essentially one. I won't know how I feel about the colour balance until I''m at that point though.
