Yay~ you know, it's the 56th anniversary of RPC. http://www.deviantart.com/view/23461970/ <------ ink
I like the composition alot. You have a penchant for flags. They are all over your work. So i feel dumb asking is it the people's republic of china's 56th anniversary? Does the flag burn in a patriotic sense? Is he burning an old flag to make way for the new? I'm sort of confused by the symbolism. Overall it's a nice change up in style. dig the old school hands. -amitabah
RED = fire = youthhood = hot blood = revolution the flag is not burning but itself is the flame....... heheh, a burning flag does not look like that anyways
In the USA a burning american flag is a protest symbol. Not a patriotic one. To me, that flag looks like it is burning. That might not be your intention but that's how I read it. "freedom is the right of all sentient beings" -amitabah
NOOOOooooooooo!!! Why?! Why must politics prevent me from seriously enjoying that pic?! I'd go on seriously gushing about how seriously awsome that pic looks.... but the political connotations associated with such praise would probably cause me implode. >_< Aestheticly, the pic is awsome. I'm just not crazy behind the communist thing. But yeah.... sorry dude
I believe all countries consider burning their flag a rebel action, heheh. Well, the only possibility for a flag burning like this is: this flag is made of extremely thin paper that it burns perfectly and doesn't release any smoke; besides, no matter how thin the paper is, the edge between itself and the flame turns black, always always. You can go outside and put fire on a piece of toilet paper, then u'll see. It just won't look like that.
I'm not too crazy about communist either. Heheh, just wanted to put some "sortof" symbolic element into it.
Actually, just from a stylistic stand point it could be an interesting excercise. Decepticon Propoganda posters (based on Nazi/Soviet style art) Autobots racing (in the style of pre war european racing posters) Cybertron life 50's style (think of Transformers animated by the Jetsons) Just trying to spur the creative juices
I feel kind of like a jerk for having lurked in often at this amazing piece of art and not having posted. And while I'm not too big a fan on communism, I really do like appreciate the effort and detail that went into making such a piece. The pose is excellent and the coloring very nicely done.
