Watched Leno's last show last night and his recap of the last 17 years was a perfect reminder of why I'm not going to miss him on the Tonight show. When Conan walked on stage to his old theme song I almost got a tear in my eye because it underlined how much I've missed his show these last few months. I loved the clip they showed of Conan coming on the Tonight Show in 1993 right after he was hired for Late Night, he looked like a kid even though he was 30. I'm also looking forward to the focus group bit that Conan is going to show next week where he is disguised as "Stan Wexler" and shows a group of older people clips of his show to gauge their response.
i've never been a fan of Conan. i absolutly LOVE lenno, i'm glad they are keeping him around. i am glad they are moving lenno too earlier in the evening, means i can watch him w/out staying up late and loosing sleep!
Has Jimmy Fallon always been this unfunny? This is a serious question too, I never watched/got to watch him on SNL
I never thought Fallon was funny. He was only surrounded by a decent cast. I nevr laughed at anything he did and honestly, he could never keep a straight face during his skits. In the Cowbell skit, he was laughing in the background.
You guys need to go watch early Conan episodes if you want to see unfunny. Fallon is off to a way better start on his show than Conan and co. ever were, who I still say didn't get to be any good till almost 2 years in when Conze was allowed to start hiring writers more freely without vetting them via NBC first. To each his own and all, but I think there is a bit of rose-colored glasses action going on when it comes to Conan.
I really hope Andy moves up to stage and isn't just Conan's announcer. What a demotion if that's the case. Otherwise, I great first show even if Pearl Jam's new song is rather bland.
CIRCLE! CIRCLE! CIRCLE! CIRCLE! CIRCLE! CIRCLE! Superb first episode of the new Tonight Show. It was funny from beginning to end (sans Will Ferrell's unfunny interview). Conan > Leno
Epic start indeed. I loved every minute of it, sans the part when Pearl Jam played but it's not Conan's fault that they wrote a boring song. And yeah, it wasn't Will Ferrell's best interview but at least he made a grand entrance. And I'm still not sure weather I'm happy or sad that he didn't rip off the tuxedo to reveal a tiny thong underneath... I really love the new set and stage. While part of me misses the slightly more cozy set he used to have, I can't deny how fantastic the new one looks with its art deco style.
Agreed. Maybe it's because I'm not a big Will Ferrel fan (though I did find Talladega Nights and Blade of Glory pretty damn funny, though the latter moreso for Jon Heder), but he was just falling flat. His schtick has just gotten old. Did like the entrance though. Yeah, haven't been a Pearl Jam fan since, well, Ten. Really have to agree on the stage though...it just pops in HD, and the style is great too. I tuned in just to check it out because it was the first show, but I think I'll be tuning in alot more often from now on.
i hope andy sticks around i missed him, i watched it last night and i will be watching it just about every night!
Y E S. I forgot to mention that in my last post, but I literally got chills when the old theme song started. I was worried it would change so I was thrilled that they kept it. They kept the old outro music, too.
I missed the outro music. My PVR cut it off during the last commercials. I fixed it, so it won't do that tonight.
it was great! I felt very protective of Conan the whole time thinking about all the new people watching him and judging. hopefully that feeling will subside and i can just enjoy watching him again.
