Netflix to Produce Original Series Based on ‘Lemony Snicket’ Books

 

Whelp can't be worse than the movie.

A series is a better format than movies are when there's 10+ books anyways.

 

Nice to see the Orphans getting some love again.

I rather liked the film, myself, though given the bar being set high in TV drama (though I will never forgive Almost Human going down, that shit was awesome and would have been successful if the showing order hadn't been fucked over...), here's hoping the Series is even better this time around.

 

Wonder how long it'll be, and if it'd possibly be animated (a concept kicked around for the sequel).

 

Netflix should do a Dredd series starring Karl Urban.

 

One of my favorite series as a kid adapted into one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

 

This is good news. I thought the movie was excellent, but I would love to see them properly adapted.

 

Jim Carrey DAMN WELL better be in it!

You can't have a Lemony Snicket series without Count Olaf and since Carrey was Count Olaf, do the math...

 

You can't have a Batman movie without Riddler and since Carrey was Riddler, do the math...

Seriously though Carrey was cool as Olaf but I'd rather see a new interpretation of him.

 

So what you're saying is the math doesn't add up.

 

I was never really into the story, I felt it had too much of the narrator saying "this is bad, this is terrible, " - that gag sort of spoiled it for me, and made the narrator out to be unreliable (something that takes skill to pull off, otherwise it just looks lame).

What I liked about the film was Jim Carrey's deliciously despicable performance as Count Olaf, and the Goth aesthetic the film gave off (apparently Tim Burton was on board that film). They probably won't get back Carrey, but whoever does Olaf should be just as good as him.

And it's true, a series like this would probably work better as a TV show than a film. Even Harry Potter may have worked out better in a TV format.

Anyway, the best of luck to this project.

 

Never read the books but I saw the movie and enjoyed Jim Carrey as Olaf.

Good choice. He did THE ADDAMS FAMILY and MEN IN BLACK, which were bizarre but enjoyable stories.

 

alright...could work.

 

I hope they change the ending to something that actually makes sense and actually answers questions.
