THANK YOU!!! Everything you just wrote is exactly what I'm dealing with. The backpack was so ridiculously tight that I spent at least 30 minutes trying to pry it apart. And when you tab it back together underneath the ship it won't be any easier to take apart the 2nd or 100th time. I am also stuck on the back end of the potato. I have about 1/4" gap as well. I can't forvthe life of me figure it out. I watched the 3 reviewers on YouTube and I'm sure you noticed they all cut the video at that exact spot where we are stuck. I can only assume everyone has had issues there. I feel like the thighs can push in further but there's just zero clearance to move them. I've tried every possible orientation and its just not working. The ankles, backpack, and knee ratchets are ridiculously tight. I also want to like this figure but its just not working for me‍♂️

For the back pack i use a lego tool (2 actualy)
I also had to trim some of the base connection for the back to close properly

But the legs, yeah that was a challenge. I had to redo multiple times.
Made sure the leg and hips were all straight so that the feet would go straight(so they would not reach other)
I had to watch a loooooot of youtube video to do it though. Doing it in the right order makes all the difference.
Did you move the white plastic part that cover the hips because the instructions doesn't show it clearly?
It did took me 2 hours but the night of sleep between really helped
    Did

I did move the little white tab, yes. Everything feels like its going together properly until I try to seal it shut to form the potato. Looking Inside as I'm doing it, it seems to be the crotch that is hindering any further movement. I fiddled around for hours with it and this will be the 2nd night for me of NOT getting that final transformation. Its extremely frustrating because the materials feel pretty damn good considering this company is rather new. I was super excited when I first held it in my hand but there's no way I would ever want to transform this thing out of the ship mode once I get it there. I'll start playing around again tomorrow but I dont feel any figure should need this amount of attention to get it to alt mode

Did you move the crotch flap so that they go insiste the small tunnel made with wait flap? (The one that also connect to the arms upper body section)

This is because it is mistransformed. I had the same issue, couldn't get the back end together. Started again and it lined up perfectly fine.

I had a lot of trouble until I hinged the legs down and worked on the potato by itself. This allowed me to arrange the legs as I needed. Even though it’s pretty tight, I was able to get the legs properly folded but it required a final push I can’t say I was comfortable with. Also, I’m not sure if the knee tabs serve a structural purpose but the potato largely held together after I rotated both of knee tabs into the back of the ship rather than the outside.

After the back end was completed, I pegged the front, bridge section, and back into each other at the same time. Every sudden movement would cause something to become undone so I had to hold the potato together while I rocked it up and tabbed it into the cockpit. Probably 15 of the most frustrating minutes in recent memory but it worked!

I love this guy, but it’s the type of love you develop during shared traumatic experiences. Bot and Alt modes are phenomenal. The first half of the transformation is fun and creative (that chest bit and magnets in the arms, *chef kiss) but those legs and the final tabbing into Alt mode were so frustrating, it almost felt personal.

Like, he’s a great-looking guy, very unique, tons of personality with a presence that commands the room, but I’m not going to transform him again until my fingers get a sincere apology.

I had the same problem with the thighs. After trying to add clearance from every angle, I threw caution to the wind, moved the waist flaps out of the way, and gave them a push that i was pretty sure would cause damage.

I heard a loud pop from the ratchet and looked down with the expectation of seeing a broken joint, only to be relieved that it had actually worked.

Seeing some of the posts I'm asking those who have him, if I wanted this guy mostly for his bot mode, would it still be an alright purchases, or should I wait for either another option or even a second release?

There will only be a second release if the first is successful, I would assume. Especially from a new company.

Mines en route. I might just keep it in bot mode and hope a second, more transformation friendly release if this is successful enough. Really think the sculpting is great looking. Hope a second run would fix the tolerance and material issues.

    Love your display! Looks great.

I am also waiting for some other reviews. The figure personally looks like the perfect representation of G1 shockwave. Even though he isn’t really G1. I always thought his Altmode was rubbish... not being a real world gun, but an awkward laser gun.

its almost too good to pass. But considering I like transforming my figures, the issues could be a dealbreaker for me. Let me know your opinion. If it just needs some diy fixes or just not worth it for someone who likes to transform their figures once in a while...
