The Space Exploration Unit was designed as a means of scientific research and defense while in space. While in robot mode, the Unit features clawed hands, which allow it to collect soil and rock samples. In addition, it's palm mounted Mini Cannons give it weaponry in conjunction with it's claws. It's ski like feet allow it to effectively "ski" on spacial bodies with open areas and it's eye can act as a floodlight in dark areas. In it's split rocket and Rover modes, the Unit is capable of traversing planets with tough terrain easily. The rocket's rear wings allow it to act as a VTOL vehicle, allowing it to return to combine with little trouble when it is not in a takeoff situation. The Mini Cannons are still functional, shovel implements are given to the rover and, as with the Mortar Unit, the Unit cannot combine if only one component is present.
