For one, this is not news.

Second, this is just like any other LEGO Creator set, being one set with multiple builds. One just happens to be a robot with a faceplate.

What is an interesting coincidence (and it IS a coincidence) is that the original Bulkhead was, in fact, a green helicopter.

And he was also a reference to Springer in Japan, which is even more appropriate given this guy's triple-changer (...ish) tendencies.

Besides the color, I don't see Bulkhead when I look at that robot.

Ostensibly, it does looks like a cross between Springer and Bulkhead, but it's also too generic-looking to be anything. Part of the draw with Kreo are the Kreons and the robot build head sculpts. And this set has neither.

looks pretty vague as a bulkhead reference. looks like generic green robot X to me.

though it is interesting that the robot build is very kreo-esque. same aesthetic. I mean, there's a lot they could have done, but they chose to design a robot that resembles kreo robots quite a bit.

seems like there's a bit of a pillowfight going on between kreo and lego. nothing where either company can do anything about the other, but enough where they can both feel the jabs being taken.

The Creator line has been around for a while, but I don't think the robot build is based on Kreo at all. Look at this earlier Creator installment from Lego. One could say that the Kreo robot builds borrowed from this:

I see some similarity but do not think Lego copied Kreo.

However, I do hope Kreo improve its quality to Lego's level. Bought all the Kreo micro changers blind pack and much as I like it, I do not think I will get any more due to the quality.

Yeah could be chicken/egg syndrome. Still, that second bot looks a lot more just like a generic robot build to me. I've seen it at the store a few times and never thought anything about it resembling kreo.

The green one? The way the torso, arms and legs are built up definitely resembles kreo builds to me. Maybe I'm just seeing it more because I've been putting a lot of sets together recently :lol

I'm personally not seeing it. I think the generic triple changer is very similar in execution to the generic red robot. But it seems they went with Lego Knights-styled ratchet joints for the triple changer's leg connections instead of the ball joints seen on the red robot.

    Eh, not seeing it personally.

But if lego did have the transformers license, I would buy every set!

Seconded. My Kreon Galvatron's helmet keeps falling off and does not stay in place.

Two things that seem kind of sad. Lego can do a triple changer but for some reason Hasbro can't. Ha ha, and you have to buy a Lego set to get a nice robot mode for a robot that turns into a helicopter.

A little competition isn't bad for either company. It seems like the costumer is the winner when they aren't limited to just one choice.

It's a faux triple changer, though. Lego's Creator line features 2-in-1/3-in-1 builds, so this is nothing new.

And technically, Kreo has done this if you count their Devastator set (vehicle, robot, combiner).

    Of course they are!

You can easily transform them into a pile of junk, with some helpful input from a hammer.

Transforming them back into robot mode can be a bit difficult though.

But when they're made of construction blocks, that's no problem - and you won't even need a hammer! :D

I think you guys are giving the original poster a bit too hard a time over the Lego/Kre-O thing. Yes, Lego made an original robot brick set, but it sure looks to me like they are trying to one-up Kre-O from moving into the robot brick line, having their Creator sets be Kre-O in everything but the character licenses.

The latest wave of Creator seems to be made up of triple changing robots, with two vehicle modes, one land, one air, just like most G1 Triple Changers. Not like the old Creator sets with three dinosaurs, or three vehicles, or whatever. Lego has clearly decided to nip this Kre-O thing in the butt by trying to out do Hasbro with similar, possibly superior, brick transforming robots.

The brick robot/vehicle thing has really picked up in Lego and in the Chinese not-Lego lines all around. I'm collecting a lot of them myself. I'm considering any of the not-Kre-O ones to be "third party Transformer" Kre-Os.

I am getting the "Power Mech" (aka not-Bulkhead) when he comes out, and I'll be giving thim the Springer Kreon as his driver.

BTW - I just picked up "Thunder Wings" today. Robot/jet/race car! Yeah, "Thunder Wings". Nice original name for your robot jet Lego!

Another aspect I have not heard discussed by the people who dismiss this set as "just a Creator set were you can build a robot" is that fact that he isn't just a set you can make into a truck or a robot, you can make him into a truck, or a robot with truck-mode kibble! The robot mode has a clear truck cab on his chest, and the truck headlights on his shoulders. They didn't just make a robot from the same bricks as a truck, they made a robot from the same bricks that is designed to look like the truck mode had transformed into a robot. That is something new to Lego. That's a design style that Kre-O uses to immitate transformation.

He looks like a hybrid of Prime and Energon Bulkhead.
