I made this in the span of about a week, back in 2007. He was made from scraps left over after I used up all the good parts to make Lego Optimus Version 2. He's built to-scale with Optimus. Check out the Flickr gallery to see for yourself: Bumblebee, baby! - a set on Flickr I took him apart after about a week, so he doesn't exist anymore. Check out Optimus Version 3 in this other thread: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/235885-lego-optimus-prime.html
Said it on your Optimus thread, but I'll say it again here: raising the bar to new and awesome levels!
I actually checked out your Prime first. Is BB in scale with Optimus? These are both great likenesses.
In the last pictures, Bee is pictured with Optimus Version 2, which is about an inch shorter than Version 3.
Hey now, no need to be so negative about your self. But it is refreshing to see such humility in an artist
I wasn't being negative. I ordered parts specifically for Optimus, and only decided to build Bumblebee as an afterthought, so he came out looking not as good as he could've.
Read the accompanying text: He IS a different Optimus. I have built 3 Optimuses. The one pictured alongside Bumblebee is Version 2. The awesome Optimus that I posted in the other thread is Version 3.
Just give it your best shot. Even if it doesn't come out this good the first time, you will at least learn in the process for next time.
Hey! He trunned out excellent! Simpler than Prime and I know what you mean about 'Good Parts' and useually we splurge them on the model we want to be great at first. Then over time we start stripping away some parts to give a new model a chance. It goes in cycles until we finally break them down and start over. LEGO is the purest. I like Bumblebees face. ya got the 'ears' in too just right.
