I don't think a hypothetical LEGO Jazz would need to have the actual sponsors of that real-world Porsche 935? They'd probably just leave it as undetailed in that particular regard as the SS86 figure.

Martini targets not just the name but also the specific colors and stripes. So basically you'd get a Jazz with very basic stripes or different colors, but you wouldn't get anything close to the striping and colors of Martini.

So I guess I came off too strong. Jazz per say isn't off the table, but if you wanted accurate Martini colors with or without the Martini Racing name, then you're SOL and you'll need to mod that yourself.

For sure yeah, they wouldn't be able to get away with closely matching the livery of the IRL Martini Porsche even without the actual logos/names, but I think most potential buyers would be more than happy with SS86 Jazz-level likeness.

Best part is that Lego has licensed Porsche for many models, including recently the 911 Turbo(930).

it shouldn't be a disappointment if you know they're probably going to do optimus and bumblebee or soundwave before like

    fucking prowl.

The trend is disappointing, and a sense of disappointment is subjective. Your grammar is also disappointing. Unfortunately, that’s not subjective.

No one should expect Prowl or any of those kinds of characters before Optimus, Bee, Soundwave, Grimlock, those big name characters, some of the big 6 if you will.

No one is surprised, and no one is expecting anything different. It’s the trend itself, however generated and however justified, that is nevertheless disappointing. That’s all.

You do realize that this strengthens my point, right? If plenty of LEGO fans, as you say, don’t know or care about TF characters, just care that it’s cool and transforms, then why not make characters other than OP and BB?

Because you strike with your heavy hitters as they will get the bigger sales because they are so iconic. Pretty much everyone that gets it does Bee and or Prime in that first launch. It's across the board with these IPs

I understand that. It was a rhetorical question based on the the full post of the person to whom I was responding.

Not knowing or caring about characters doesn't mean they're not more likely to get something they recognize. The product is more likely to move if a Lego fan says "I remember him from the cartoon" or "I did like the movie where he was a Beetle," compared to something they don't recognize at all.

Bumblebee is immediately recognizable....pop culture legacies, and allows Lego to either do a Volkswagen lookalike, or leverage a Volkswagen license, which is extremely popular in Lego. Not hard to understand for someone seemingly smart like you yeah?

That's entirely unfair. If anything, Baby Yoda is the green equivalent of Bumblebee.
