I'm so happy they are continuing with their collaboration. As a lifelong Lego fan and more recent fan of transformers I really loved the Optimus and hope that this will go well with it. Whilst I do share the sentiment of wishing it was another character (I would have LOVED a Lego Soundwave) I think it makes sense that they went in this direction. Most of the main generation one Decepticons (bar Soundwave) are military vehicles which to my understanding Lego has a policy against. Even ignoring that Bumblebee makes sense being that he is the most well known transformers character after Optimus. Anyway I am very much looking forward to this.

Oh sweet! Hope it's true and the price seems good.

Had a lot of fun with Lego Optimus.

If this was just another toy, I'd agree.

But this is a LEGO. You think the second one they make is going to be someone OTHER than one of the top 3-4 recognizable transformers in the mainstream? You WANT this to sell so they keep making more, and eventually they'll get to Jazz (which even Masterpiece hasn't done yet) or Prowl or something. You can probably forget combiners, though, since they struggled enough with stability on Voltron.

I do think Starscream is unlikely in the near-term, but there isn't any hard policy reason he couldn't. Like @R3M1NGT0N and others pointed out, the public pressure campaign against the Osprey product and Lego's stated reason for the cancellation were the licensing relationship with arms manufacturer Boeing. Military vehicles can sneak in as long as they're in a fantasy setting, with the recent example of an Indiana Jones set which didn't just include a fighter plane but also included "Fighter Plane" in the product description. https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/fighter-plane-chase-77012

Starscream and Megatron are going to be a little tricky - especially compared to basic Optimus/Bumblebee. Soundwave might make sense for the next one if they want to make a Decepticon, and it would fit in with a lot of the retro electronics stuff LEGO has been making lately (Atari, Polaroid camera, etc.).

I wouldn't care if they didn't combine, LEGO Constructicons would be adorable!

No doubt, but that's probably FAR down the list of what they want to make.

Oh, of course, I know that FOR SURE, but I was just saying them not combining wouldn't be an issue for me at all!

You forget that this was probably Lego's call. This is what lego wanted and they know exactly how to be profitable. Also, bumblebee (especially a beetle version) is going to have all kinds of appeal to regular lego fans. Beetles have been a lego staple since before they were making the bricks we love today. Lego fans will be all over this.

I LOVE Lego Prime, so I’m excited by this news. I hope its car mode is a licensed VW Bug rather than a generic sports car.

The Lego Prime is one of my favorite collabs and toys ever. Definitely grabbing Bee!

Would love a Unicron with a bunch of mini or nano Transformers but one can dream xD

As long as it's the G1 VW Bug I'm down. If they give us the live action trash version it's an easy pass.
