I don’t disagree, but Bumblebee? Meh. Optimus and Bumblebee over and over… it’s exhausting and uninspired. Do Jazz, do Prowl, hell, do LEGO Devastator at the LEGO Voltron scale.

Putting together Prime was somewhat frustrating, but also very rewarding. I'd be up for this.

these types of collabs aren't aimed at hardcore TF fans who want Prowl and Devastator, it's for Hasbro to spread their IP to non fans who are into LEGO

Clearly, but the flip side is that LEGO is counting on TF fans to some extent to make it profitable. They wouldn’t bother with classic TF characters if there wasn’t already a huge fan base.

They're definitely counting mainly on "people who grew up with Transformers in the 80s" in general, but that encompasses a lot of people who haven't been active fans of Transformers since they were kids.

If they make Megatron it's most likely gonna be a tank.

Honestly, with it being a licensed thing and thus not being strictly mandatory to transform, I could see them just doing a Megatron who doesn't transform into anything.

I mean, it’s the smartest choice. Bee and Prime sell.

Look at any Lego collab with another IP, they always do highly popular characters or vehicles first then branch out. Lego generally doesn’t take very many risks.

Official LEGO prime is about 1500 pieces, and G1 Bee being half his height ..can comfortably be made using about 900-1000 pieces.

I'm a designer for 3rd party building blocks Transformers (like Mould King 10061) , I am suprised though Bee is chosen as it's a bit on the complex side to realize , compared to let's say Grimlock and Soundwave.

Personally, I'm fired up to build my own LEGO G1 Bee and anticipate the official one this July , just for the heck of it.

they're literally the two most popular characters this shouldn't be a surprise anymore

also devastator would be so hard to make good. if it's stable, then there's not going to be any fun transformation. Voltron worked because it was 2 modes.

Looks awesome! Where can I get one? I'm gonna customize that into Blurr.

…what does that have to do with Lego using car brands and franchises?

Just google "mould king 10061" and there should be links to some online stores selling 'em. And there's a yellow variant too under the label "Sillbird" in amazon.com. search for "Sillbird Transformers".

I actually prototyped this design using white lego parts coz that's what I have in abundance and digitize the design in blue after googling some reference photos and they looked damn cool.

2 years ago when rumors of LEGO Prime was circulating.... I was asked by a 3p comany to design him as well.. and I gone all out in making a Powermaster version (my favorite Prime). Sadly....only the cab version makes the cut... ending up as a modest 500pcs "pangu 14013" or "ediciro" (in amazon) . Maybe I'll pitch my powermaster prime to some other 3p companies in the near future.

given the Bumblebee Overabundance has been ongoing among Hasbro's best and worst financials in the past while, i'm going to say just maybe that Bumblebee isn't the reason they're in any financial trouble (especially when they consistently report Transformers as one of their strongest-performing brands during their times of trouble)

I\'d recently been getting news stories on my phone news feed that Hasbro and Lego were offiicially collaborating or partnering up or something so I was kind of expecting this.
It being Bumblebee is also not surprising as many have already said in this thread, but I kind of have to echo the \"not Bumblebee again!\" sentiment. Give me Starscream or Hot Rod or heck, total pie in the sky wish here but give me Nightbeat!
I\'ll still be getting it though. The wife isn\'t really a TF fan but she loves Bumblebee (kinda proving the point of his non-TF fandom popularity I guess) so she\'s going to split the cost on it with me, which is nice :)
