This is both inaccurate and accurate. The majority of ninjago mechs don't, but recently there have been an increasing amount of large ninjago mechs that DO have knees. Just in the past 2 years we have gotten around 5-6 ninjago mechs with knees. More if you count smaller ones that came with other larger sets.

Yeah the waist piece is hanging way out from the spine armature, not a great example of it

That waist is pretty terrible from the side... And I dunno why if VW let Lego do a Technic VW beetle and Herbie too why not let them use the design for Bee as well?

It'd probably just drive up the price further. He also doesn't "need" to be a Beetle. The draw is the character, not the car.

(Also afaik there is no official Lego Herbie model. At least I couldn't find one. Or a Technic one for that matter. There was a Creator one a while back and an older brick built one, though.)

The parts forming is optional if you have enough bricks in your collection to fix it

    Don't...
Don't do that. Both matter. It's Transformers, both modes matter, don't pretend they don't. Besides if it weren't a Beetle it'd be out of aesthetic with Optimus and throw off consistency.

Yeah wether you're a transformers fan or a Lego fan, this is a universally shit look structurally and visually.

I'm doing that before I fix the partsforming, first thing I thought of.

I was wondering why performing is needed at all (it isn't necessary for transformation and makes the robot mode look worse)

I realized that this robot mode probably has to follow the evergreen design. Every single deviation from the G1 design with this figure is an aspect of the character deemed an "essential brand element" by the evergreen toolkit.

According to the note at the bottom, every version of the character has to have back wings, fenders on shoulders, hood on legs, etc. The LEGO version probably had to conform to these guidelines

I agree he doesn’t need to be a beetle, but the alt mode very much matters. A bad or boring alt mode can be more of a deciding factor for purchase than the character itself. I never liked Bumblebee, until he became a Camaro. I bought his Cybertron form from his movie but passed on the Bug and Jeep forms.

All these lego transformers makes me really really hope we get a Lego transformer game at some point in the future.
