Your perspective is completely valid, but I submit to you that it's no more accurate than what I suggested. We can run an actual poll to see some numbers (which obviously may not be representative at all), and I still say MOST fans will army build. AT LEAST THREE. The majority of comments in this thread seem to indicate just that. And I'm also noticing a lot of begrudging "oh, he's tiny... jeez..." So just think of the possibilities of ACTUALLY HITTING THE NAIL ON THE HEAD! (Personally, I can't speak for the scale of this guy without getting a sample in-hand). I think it's nice to pay a little extra for a cool character like SHARKTICON. Would I army-build something else at that price point? Who knows? But I think you're kind of underestimating just how popular this background character is - he was featured pretty heavily in probably the most popular G1 episode of all time: TF, the Movie! Incidentally, while I enjoy this discussion, the entire point is moot, isn't it? Because Hasbro will NOT make enough of these guys to satisfy demand - I think you'll end up seeing wavemates over and over, but no Skarkies [on store shelves]! I say this because Hasbro has historically favored store shelf variety (i.e. lots of colors, even at expense of character design); Hasbro has yet to run good metrics on what sells and how shelves ACTUALLY LOOK after distribution - the irony being that all of their planned "variety" is worthless when certain toys sell out and shelves don't have variety at all. But seeing as Walmart is finally tracking WHICH TF you bought, it's possible this might change one day, and that stores will be able to refill specific items, rather than get another case of 2-3 Sharkies and 5-6 shelf-warmers (my personal best case scenario for Legends wave 3 assortment ).
I'm going to have to display them in tiers for the illusion of being bigger than they really are. Also, I may have to do a bit of touch-up repainting on them, like giving them white or silver teeth.
Yet another Wheelie where they couldn't paint between the lines Makes him look like he's got bags under his eyes now.
How many Sharkticons have ever appeared on screen at once? I'm wondering what ballpark number of them I should get to be comfortably accurate.
This dude looks awesome. I got a good look at him at SDCC and talked to the hasbro designer who worked on him, cool dude. I am gonna have to get me a couple of these to go with my G1 sharkticons.
They will be turning down money if they don't at least do this. Solid cases will probably sell through to begin with. Need about six.
Two will be UNLUCKY. TR Legends cases are 8 per case split 3-3-2 Gnaw at 2 per case will be hard to get. It's hard to see which of BB, Gnaw or Kickback is a sensible choice to take the short straw in this case.
no its not. bumblebee is the clear short pack choice since he has 50 versions already and the other only have 2 or 3 at most. or at least that's what most of us would like to see but Hasbro may see bb as the most popular and he get more. who knows.
Good point in fiction But i'm still in the camp who would have preffered them to be made in Deluxe size. Still gonna buy a few of them though. They'll be the baby Sharkies
Although they are smaller than what a lot of us would prefer, at least they help make our Dinobot figures look bigger in comparison when displayed together, to recreate that scene in the animated movie. That's Grimlock's foot.
Actually, I think you'll find that foot belongs to Sludge (note the grey toes, rather than Grimmy's gold-painted toenails). But yeah, your point about them being a great fit with the Dinobots is spot-on!
I'll get around 3-5 for me. They will be a good fit with the TF Prime Sharkticon Megs as their leader.
Yea, again, this figure is a tad too small and would have benefitted from a deluxe scale mold. Still, I'm all over it. Not because it looks like a ferocious beast, but because it looks like a cute toy. Then again, the G1 toy doesn't look at all scary either.
