I've been pretty excited about this project, but haven't posted anything because I didn't know how well this would print out. But, today I received my first printed prototype and I think it worked well enough to continue developing these.

This is just a base form of the tallest human, which I believe would be Sparkplug. I didn't want to spend a bunch of time modelling clothes and features (without knowing how assembly would go), so it's essentially a mannequin to test the joints. The shoulders worked out perfectly, as well as the ab crunch, but I think I'll be ditching the elbow joints and making the arms one solid piece, and the hips and knees need some work - they barely stay together.

After some tweaks, I think I'll try some different materials. This gray/black plastic is very strong, but also a little too grainy for small detail.

Scalewise, I think I'm right on the money. Though I couldn't find any screenshots, and I haven't yet installed Photoshop on my new PC to access my reference art file, Sparkplug generally stands as tall as the bottom of the detail on Optimus's shin, above the vents in his shin.

To be in that ballpark for MST's OP, the number I came up with for height was 32 mm.

So, who would be your must-have people?

Dude, amazing!!! I’m loving everything you do.

I know that I showed you my prototypes of Legends Brawn and Sunstreaker (posesble/non-transforming), but my main project at the moment is creating legends scale, (transforming) M.A.S.K. Vehicles, with tiny pilots (with removable helmets).

I have set up my legends scale humans with very little articulation, basically just enough to stand straight, and also sit in the vehicle.

but if you’re getting this kind of articulation, at this scale, with 3D printing, then I need to seriously re-evaluate my legends scale humans.

    well done!

As for the height, I am making my humans between 30-32mm, same as you. It works out to about 1/54 scale, which is a nice average between the various released legends scale bots.

I think you could also throw in a G1-ified Dylan Gould for fun. There's something about a Decepticon version of Spike Witwicky that just appeals to me.

It was a bit of a joke, but in all seriousness, I think you're diluting the meaning of "must-have".

Like, what are the 4-5 figures you MUST have that are essentially to your collection.

If he sees a few characters that are in everyone's top 5, he can know where to focus.

Listing a dozen characters and the entire shared universe doesn't seem to help focus the direction.

I actually keep lists like these for all my favorite IP’s. For things like Thundercats or TMNt, my must have list is only 10-20 characters, he-man about 25 characters, where as my “must have” list of TF characters is closer to 75.

So, imho, my named list of characters above (ignoring the other non-tf IPs my list) is my ultimate goal of legends scale humans that are must haves for me. If NOCV (or someone else) doesn’t do them, I will myself, eventually.

i did put them in order of my own preferences, and I’m sure NOCV appreciates my feedback. He can cross it with his own lists to help prioritize.

But instead of taking all this time to criticize my list of opinions (which is fun for me, but not super productive) why don’t you provide your list?

They skipped Shawn Berger and the breakdancing kids that hang out with Tracks :D
    Thanks for the kind words.

For construction and articulation I pretty much followed the Diaclone Dia Nauts. If you have any, you might want to take a look at how they work. The only thing that didn't turn out so well was the elbows.

Hell I’d be excited for a bunch of the blanks personally.

I can do that once the joints and materials are perfected.

In-universe characters, I think I really only have three that I'd definitely want in my display:

    Spike
    Sparkplug
    Arkeville

Other than that, there are some nice to haves, but nobody that stands out like those three.

On the other hand, I love the idea of scaled MASK and GI Joe (Old Snake?) figures standing on the shelf.

I mean... Cobra Commander to stand with Starscream, a Destro to stand with the Viper repaint of Powerglide... Would be kinda amazing.

Spent most of the past two days working on Sparkplug. He just needs clothes.
