saw this at Target today. they were $9.99 yesterday
They're already 12.99 in Canada. I hope they don't go up here. (then again Deluxes are $17 here and I think they're the same in the US?)
looks like I'll be skipping Legends from here on out.
Something that small for that is insane.
I just bought a Beast hunters Abominus set for 11.50
Prices in Brazil:
Generations Legends: $20
Generations Deluxe: $28
Generations Voyager: $55
Movie 4 Deluxe: $36
Movie 4 Voyagers: $60
Movie 4 Leader: $120
I wish I could pay only $12,99 on legends...
Jeez....I was gonna get the Insecticon next wave, but I think I'll pass. That's a deluxe price...
For the next upcoming waves...I'd gladly pay $15 for them.
Deluxes haven't been that price for years.
In before the inevitable 'lazy ass Americans and their funny money expectation of cheap Transformers.'
Legends and Scout retail price points are crazy. On a side note, I recently paid $3.88 for Beast Hunters Skylynx and $6.88 for the Scout Insecticon.
There's already a price comparison posting by ZackRoyer a few postings before you. It's about TF prices in Brazil.
Right when the line's finally getting back on track, too. Figures.
Glad I got Cosmos when I saw him yesterday.
And this is why I wait for sales. I keep an eye on futures sales online and ads.
I never want to pay full price.
I'm pretty sure I bought the IDW Dreadwing at TrU earlier this year for 12.99. (Unless you mean the 11.29 OP posted price)
Transformers are going to be expensive in Brazil. Brazil, simply put, does not want anybody importing toys, and imposes duties and taxes that amount to a 100% increase in the price of the toy, even with no consideration for the cost of getting it there from the warehouses.
People here sometimes like to poke at Americans for wanting low prices. I also sell toys on Ebay and I get requests from people in Brazil to mark items as gifts to avoid those taxes. Nobody likes to pay extortionate prices. I don't know where the moral high ground is here, but I'm pretty sure there isn't a Target up there.
I'm also pretty sure I have seen these tail-end markups before from Target, and usually on slow-selling lines or pricepoints. This reinforces my suspicion that Target is playing with the numbers for some benefit, maybe the amount they can get from inventory buyouts or something.
Even the previous $9.99 price was too high for what they are. They're smaller than Cyb Commanders that were the same price.
Retailers have gotten just plain greedy with the pricing lately. $15 deluxes, $25 voyagers...undoubtedly because of the surge of popularity and demand AoE is sure to bring on. Surprised they didn't jack up leaders another $5 too.
In Yukon, OK the Target was asking $12.49 at the register ten days ago. It was the only Target in the area that I saw them at (though there was one store I didn't bother to go to since it was in a high-traffic area) as of that time. I managed to convince them that the price on the peg was $9.99 though I'm not sure if it actually was or not since I didn't look too closely at their peg price and some legends were on deluxe pegs anyhow.
So that means a country like S'pore is in the same boat as Brazil.
TF prices in S'pore:
Deluxe is around $24 USD
Voyager is around $44 USD
Leader is around $79 USD
This is interesting but I wonder if it would be cheaper to get someone to buy them in the states and then ship them to you. With the shipping, would it end up being cheaper?
Fixed that for you.
Got a Scorn just yesterday for $11.23.
I can't even remember the last time there was price consistency...............I'm thinking it was sometime during Armada.
Nowadays.....prices ride a "wave".
Yes and no at the same time, Brazillian government has a strict rule for shipments from USA, they tax even the ones marked as gift (it is extremelly random what they tax and not, a friend of mine bought 2 boxes full of deluxes, one was taxed, the other not, both having the same number of itens and prices).
It is easier to avoid taxes buying from asiatic or european countries, but that isn't for sure.
And before anyone judge me or anyone who is glad to not pay taxes (or avoid to pay) I would like to say that I have no problem in paying a fixed tax. My problem is that the tax depends on the fiscal's humour, he is eligible to put any percentage he wants, he can set %60 on what you've payed (as said on our legislation) as they can put %500, and if you are willing to call a revision then your package will go back to RF(Receita Federal, Brazilian IRS) for another month and after yet another month it will return with an acceptance on the revision or (and normally) not, People can refuse to pay it and then the package returns to the sender.
Also I would gladly pay the fair taxes if that means my f**king packages get here fast, not the usual 3 to infinite months delay and also if I saw my taxes being well used to improve my country, not being stored in some a-hole-in-a-suit's pocket.
