So what are the options out there for Legends class Optimus? Is one considered definitively the best option out there?
for g1 you cant go wrong with MS prime. but if you are looking for IDW war within prime. than the IF prime is the way to go.
Agree with lil Icarus. The IF Prime is very hard to come by and can go for over $150. You might be better off waiting for IF to do a re-release or a newer version. Magic Square Optimus is fantastic! For definitive versions... well that's up to personal preference. If you want something IDW- inspired, Iron Factory is the definitely the way to go. If you're leaning towards more G1 inspired, Magic Square and New Age are great options. There scale discrepancies between those 2 companies, but you can definitely mix them.
I have the GT Leaders Prime. He has a terrific alt mode and bot mode. He can be found on the cheap by looking for the KBB optimus.
Magic Square is currently the best G1 Optimus. But like snaku said do the research before you dive into legends and find out what you like best.
"Do your research" The best advice any transformer collector can give to another. How many of us have dropped a small fortune on a toyline just to realize later on it wasn't what we wanted or there was something better.
I know I'm going to be in the minority here but I actually prefer DX9 Dutch. If you get one with good hips I think it's a fun figure. He also scales very well with New Age bots. That said I do understand why someone would prefer the Magic Square version.
@Snaku is spot on with the Master List thread. It breaks it all down for you. But for Prime, it's pretty much Magic Square (at least for G1) Iyt works for both their own scale and for NewAges smaller scale, is clean and amazing looking, comes with a trailer, roller and all the usual gimmicks. It's basically their MP Optimus, with a boatload of accessories, after being hit with a shrink ray.
