Wasn't there a rumor of another Optimus Prime in the Studio Series? Perhaps this will be the mold they'll use.

I knew if I just waited a bit longer and didn't pounce on MTB-01 I'd be happy, and goddamn was I right! It looks like they've copied a lot of the Black Apple mods, which is fantastic.


EDIT: Oh god, I'm gonna be so disappointed if he's a Leader class scale... I was really hoping he would be Studio Series compatible. If that's not the case I might have to go for MTB-01 anyway, or wait for whatever voyager Prime comes next. What a bummer.

I want it... I never had the original one because the figure itself no matter how mold looks good, Hasbro CHEAPENED on it.

Now Tak-Tom improved it, well as long the price is justified I'm willing to dive on it.

 

Just when I thought I'd be done with this mold (own the original, the TRU 2-pack version and a black KO)...this comes out and puts the rest to shame.

 

Now that’s an upgrade, is this a spoiler? Is Prime supposed to be in the Bumblebee movie?

 

It's almost like they knocked off the knock-off.

 

Looks like they copied the Wei-Jiang/Black Apple mods.  An official version, effectively being a KO of a KO!

Looks great! I sold both M01 Commander and my original evasion voyager and this has enough new stuff to make it a probably purchase for me. I don’t like all that bright silver on the face surrounded by all that dark blue though. But that’s all an easy fix.

 

...I mean it's in their right. Hasbro made the mould first, and if they're going to let other companies run amock with their designs they should be allowed to take a few ideas here and there.

 

People keep saying they ripped off the KO and so on... Guess what? That's their right. Look, I'm a big proponent of 3rd party, but I'm not going to begrudge Hasbro and Takara "stealing" ideas from the companies that literally stole ideas from them.

And anyone who says it was done better by Wei Jiang is wrong. This is in scale, it's an official product (meaning the officials can learn to do better and finally they are) and it adds a new weapon and storage.

If you say so. For me, it just proves that the KO companies are doing such a good job of releasing better TF toys than Hastak, that they're designs are becoming of worth to them.

 

Lets hope its a downsized version with the same engineering as evasion mode prime similar to studio series bumblebee. The original evasion mode prime is way too tall and out of scale to go with studio series figures based on the current prime. Especially since this old truck mode should actually be smaller than the 2007 truck mode. But overall I would still like to own the mold to add to my movie prime collection. I dont think this is an actual bumblebee movie reveal. Prime was white in evasion mode. I think this is more of a G1 homage and maybe prime wont even bee in the new movie. (No pun intended)

Honestly I think they just did this to push a toy out the bodie is definitely not screen accurate for the bee movie from what I’ve heard and the head might be it might not so who knows so it might be some weird hybrid like his other size class toys.

 

Nah. Evasion Optimus is in correct scale. Studio Series Optimus is undersized in both robot and vehicle mode. Not sure why HasTak designed him the way they did. Ironhide is tall, but not as tall as Optimus and 5 feet's a considerable difference in size. Optimus is 30 feet, Ironhide is just about 25. SS has them about 2-3 feet different from each other and that isn't accurate.

I'm just not sure why HasTak couldn't have devised an Optimus that transforms like EM, but looks like 07-11 Optimus.
