Howdy y'all! I recently got my hands on the LD Black Lion from the new Voltron line. I really loved the figure but much like everyone else I was a little disappointed that he didn't have much in neck articulation. The figure is still awesome besides that but i must have gotten so spoiled from all the articulation that the latest Transformers lines have all had. So I decided I was actually gonna do something about that. So I present to you my take on a neck mod that doesn't involve gutting him completely of the electronics cuz I actually like how it's electronics. If y'all have questions I'll be glad to answer them and if y'all have other ideas I can try I'd love to hear them. Also here's the album just in case it the attached images don't work.

nice job. Where did you get the extra ball joint? It looks almost like lego, but I'm not really familiar with lego.

Howdy, I got it from a lego series called Bionicles. Most of those figures have ball joints that connect the limbs. I had a bunch from when I was to work on this but they still sell them in stores.

I used these instructions above from this guys pic for his neck mod on how to take off the back. Once you unscrew everything you should be able to have the neck out. Caution though the back is connected to all the wires so if you wanna keep the wires be very careful when you remove the back.

What did you use to hold the ball joint and the bottom bit to voltron's neck? Is that putty?

Howdy, yes I used plumber's or epoxy putty two hold the two pieces together in both halves. When you do just make sure the bottom of each piece is sanded down so the putty can attached itself to the pieces better. Once it hardens those pieces aren't going anywhere unless you give it a ton of force.

By Harambe's beard that is awesome. I've been hoping for a thread to pop up for this particular figure. It's such a great set that it's a shame they skimped on the head articulation.

I picked up the non combining screen accurate Voltron and I'm thinking of swapping the wings out because they're larger than the ones on the legendary figure.

Word of advice to anyone thinking of picking up this set, watch out for scalpers. I picked up the smaller lions from BBTS and the black lion from target. You can find them from 3rd party sellers on Amazon but the mark up is scandalous.
